I love this musical so much and I loved finally reading this. It was fascinating to see the progression of the songs and get an inside look into a creator's thought process in a way I'd never thought about.

Besides the actual lyrics (which are great) this book offered more of an insight into the devising process for musical theatre than I expected which was nice.
Also, nothing pains me more than reading all the cool alternative lines that could have been and were cut for one reason or another, I want like a 30+ hr album with every possible iteration, please. (also makes me very glad to be a Stage Manager and not a Dramaturg who has to choose what to cut)

A truly beautiful look into an amazing musical. Any casual fan of Hadestown will enjoy this. The love Anais Mitchell has for Hadestown is obvious in every page of this book. It was crazy to learn the different stages of the show, how some lyrics have tied into different events, and it is a beautiful thing to see 14 years of hard work pay off.
