3 stories from the original trilogy, all good, review later maybe

This was much better than the 3rd book imho. Not that the plot wasn’t as good, but the writing was better. I’m not sure whether it was in the original Japanese or if the translation is weak, but there are some truly awkward sections in this series.

For the PopSugar 2019 Reading Challenge: a book written by an author from Asia, Africa, or South America.

I rated the stories separately.

Lemon Heart - 2 stars.
This story wasn't even told in Sadako's point of view. So we learned nothing about why she does what she does.

Coffin in the Sky - 2 stars.
I don't have anything to say about this book. It was just okay.

Happy Birthday - 2 stars.
This is kind of like an epilogue to Kaoru's story.

Coffin — 3.5 stars. The creepiest story in this collection

Lemon — 3 stars. Finally! Another glimpse of Sadako’s past! BUT it’s not even in her pov 🙄

Birthday — a quarter star. The worst. Basically an epilogue to Loop. I couldn’t care less about kaoru and reiko. Blah. Melodramatic drivel
dark mysterious slow-paced
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Not his best but still solid. This book of short stories should not be read without first reading the other books in the Ring series.
