I didnt expect this book to go the way it did at all and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised
It was a really good story
It was a really good story
The cover of this book is beautiful and it even had a ribbon attached for a bookmark. The story was strange I cannot deny it. This is my first book by this author. I look forward to reading more of her books to see what I think. I figured out part of the story before the end, but not all of it. It was a good book to read in the summer
Unique. A little choppy and rushed at the ending…but had some suspense to the story and wasn’t expecting this kind of story from this author. Plenty of heartache in many ways—didn’t personally field invested in it. But would read more by this author ✍️

I was intrigued by the concept of this book. Does knowing what will happen tomorrow really change a person's life and what decisions they make? At least that was what I was thinking it was about when I picked it up; the book didn't live up to my expectation. It was more about the process of grief and how it affects a person's life and decisions.
I also was not expecting a YA book. Tamara is a 16/17 rich, spoiled girl who by learning certain truths grows up through the book. She and her mum move to the 'country' next to an old castle ruined years ago by fire. As her entire world (as she knows it) falls apart, she tries to learn the secrets of the inhabitants of the small country community. There are some plot twists at the end that were unexpected, but overall I think it was rather predictable.
I found it incredibly hard to get into the story (the first 120pg are just background and descriptions), but once I got into the story I enjoyed it. I would have preferred to learn the back story of some of the other characters earlier in the story, instead at the very end. I understand the author was trying to build suspense and add an air of mystery to the story, but I'm don't think it worked very well. I have really enjoyed some of Cecelia Ahern's novels, but I was disappointed with this one.

This was the second book of Cecelia Ahern's that I've read, the first being PS I Love You and the book was completely not what I expected, but still amazing. It's a pretty creative story, told from the perspective of a slightly bratty and spoiled girl. It was mysterious and attention grabbing and I really enjoyed it.
This book immediately caught my attention and held it because the main character is a quirky teen with an independent streak. She experiences great tragedy but keeps up her plucky personality despite having moments of vulnerability. As a character, Tamara is wonderful!
Where this story lost me was at the end when it couldn't decide what it was going to be. It switches from a YA coming-of-age novel to one about her reconciling her loss of a parent and social status, to one being a deep dark family secret (for no real reason).
SPOILER: Moreover, the whole premise of its plot (that of the diary revealing her future) ended up being unnecessary because she figures her mystery out on her own. Plus, the book really didn't need that element of magic to make this an interesting read on its own. This reads like two separate books. Given that the whole first 1/4 didn't even have the prophetic diary, it could have been left out and the story would have been fine on its own.
