"I always think back to how I was drawn to that book in Marcus’s travelling library, almost like it was there just for me that day. I think that most people go into bookshops and have no idea what they want to buy. Somehow, the books sit there, almost magically willing people to pick them up. The right person for the right book. It’s as though they already know whose life they need to be a part of, how they can make a difference, how they can teach a lesson, put a smile on a face at just the right time. I think about books a lot differently now."
I must admit that I bought this book because I fell i love with the cover. I thought it was beautiful and it called out to me. This is also the first time I ever did this; I always read first about books I want to buy and check to see if they have good ratings here on goodreads. Well, not this time.
Anyway, I'm happy I went with my gut and bought it, because I really enjoyed this story. I was mysterious and intriguing and if I had had more free time on my hands, I could have easily read it in one sitting.
I like Cecelia's writing style and since I have 2 more of her books waiting on my shelf, I'm definitely going to be reading more of her stories. The only reason why I'm not giving it more stars is because I would have really liked to find out where the diary came from or what kind of magic (?) there was behind it. I liked the ending, but it left me just a bit disappointed..
But altogether, it was a good read and I recommend it wholeheartedly!
3,5 Stars
The Book of Tomorrow was an absolute ‘heart-tertaining’ novel. There wasn’t a single chapter that bored me. I just read one chapter from this novel, just one chapter and I was immediately hooked. That barely happens to me when I read a book.
All the paragraphs were written so very thoughtfully, all the words made so much sense. And I MUST not forget to point out the hilariously accurate examples the author provided along with every situation in the book.
It had the perfect amount of sadness and irony, a combination that makes a novel captivating. And the ironies were always so much on point that it actually turned out to be genuinely funny.
Even though this book is now in my ‘Most favorites’ list, I have to admit that some situations in this book got a little confusing, and very messy at times. It had a mixture of YA, fantasy, mystery, romance and what not. I have not read a book with so many genres before, ever. But overall it was a very good novel.
I would give this book a 4 out of 5 stars. If you haven’t read this book, now is the best time you should.
This book is about the daughter of a super-rich family. Tamara had everything she ever wanted, until one day an incident turned her world upside down. She had lost almost everything. She had to shift from her beach viewed mansion to a gatehouse in a small village. Boredom took her to reading books and reading books took her to a travelling library where she found a mysterious old leather-bound book with a lock without its key. When she finally got to open the book, she found something so mysterious it literally changed her tomorrow.
I won’t say anymore, read the book already!
My favorite quote: “Hope like that, as I thought before, doesn’t make you a weak person. It’s hopelessness that makes you weak. Hope makes you stronger, because it brings with it a sense of reason. Not a reason for how or why they were taken from you, but a reason for you to live.”

The storyline was slow moving and the ending was disappointing.

The Book of Tomorrow Before you continue reading, my review might contain a spoiler or two. Mainly those I find pointless. The reason I wanted to read this book is because I'm an avid journalist, in the most write-my-own-personal-journals-diligently-for-over-ten-years way. As soon as I saw a book about a magical journal I had to read it. Luckily for me the library here had it, pocket size! So I carried it around for a week in my pocket literally, reading it every chance I could get. I have to plead guilty that I skipped a few pages because well... I hate overly descriptive scenes. But the book had only about 2 of those as time connectors, which is understandable and acceptable, I just don't like reading those. The first thing I thought when I started the book was "oh great, another was-a-princess teenager girl with an attitude as the main character." Honestly, a lot of books are trying to stay away from sweet naive girl heroines clichés and falling into just another cliché. But even though I beginning to notice these cliché, Tamara was a well written character. The story elements were nice and the family drama was entangling and exiting.Read full review at my blog.
While I have another book by Ahern, I've not yet read it, but I soon will as I truly enjoyed this latest book by her. The narrator is a snarly 16 year old girl that I found humorous and yearning to be loved. There was a mystery that kept the reader guessing till the end and Ahern did a good job of tying up all the loose ends. The book was thoroughly captivating, light but with a depth that made you think: if you knew what would happen tomorrow - would you change it, would you let things play out the way they originally would or would you rather not have a window into your tomorrows.
Another one of Ahern's interesting reads. This book was filled with family secrets that keep you guessing until the very end.
I missed the usual Cecelia Ahern charm, the story was odd but not in a good way.
An interesting concept, and an overall easy read. A good book to bring to the beach - enjoyable, simple, easy-going.
