3.5 AVERAGE

I gave two stars only cause I realise I have moved on from chic flicks, as sad as that is for me.

I found this book to be very slow for about 2/3 of the book. Things didn't start to get interesting to me until well over 100 pages in and things didn't really pick up until the last 100 pages or so, and then everything felt really rushed.

My biggest complaint with this book was I wasn't really sure what kind of book it was, or really even what it wanted to be. The protagonist is a sixteen/seventeen year old girl, and some people on goodreads are calling it a YA novel. I guess it kind of felt like a YA novel but does Ahern write YA novels? News to me...

This was only my second Ahern novel. I read PS I Love you and enjoyed it, and was able to suspend my disbelief enough while reading to follow everything that happened. Not so much with this one, and it left me feeling a little disappointed.

I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be a supernatural story or a mystery-type book; but it didn't really feel like either. I don't think Ahern leaned into the supernatural element enough and it was kind of easy to guess what was happening with Rosaleen and Jennifer.

We finish the book not really knowing much about the diary or how it works (or why it seemed like Rosaleen knew about it - maybe that was a throwaway comment only I noticed?). There was definitely more to the story than was told, and that felt disappointing.

I'm giving this three stars because I kept reading and Ahern sucked me in during the last 100 pages. But, I was a little disappointed in the ending and was left wanting a little more from her.

WOW! That is all I can say. This book was..was..extremely good. I completely LOVED Cecelia Ahern's way of writing and the story...It was very good. I Loved this book. Rather..i felt this book. I took in every single word.

DID NOT FINISH: 18%

i just found it incredibly boring and the main character was pretty snobbish.

Good book, at times a 2 1/2 but like the ending.

Tamara tries to piece together some family secrets after her father's suicide and her mom becomes basically catatonic. they are sent to leave with her aunt and uncle who are in a mystery in themselves. Her Aunt is constantly spying on her and acts paraonid every time tamara looks around a mysterious castle and gatehouse that belonged to a wealthy family long ago.

She meets some interesting characters, Marcus, who runs library bus, and Sister Ignatius, and a mystery journal that helps her unfold some of the dark family secrets.

Pretty good read. Doesn't tie up perfectly, but last 1/3 the mystery became pretty interesting.

Did not appreciate the "intimate relations" info in this one. It wasn't the worst I've read, but it sure could have left that whole storyline out without issue.

I felt like this book leads up to a giant climax which happens in the last 3 pages of the book. It's all kind of frustrating - the first fourth of the book was the worst, but once I made it through that I was only mildly frustrated with it instead of wanting to bang my head against the wall.

The big twist is not so twisty and left me rolling my eyes a bit. Oh well.

Whenever I finish a novel from Cecilia Ahern, I just sit there; absolutely entranced. She plays the role in such empathy; draws out the story so precisely as though it were occurring right before her eyes. They're magic, I think she was a Hogwarts student or something.

Tragic, funny, mysterious; this book unravels life's lessons to the reader in an intriguing manner. I am mesmerized by the whole mischievous and enigmatic idea.

Despite being absolutely mean, I loved Tamara. Because her acts weren't emerging from her innocent, loving heart. However, I hated the "possessiveness" of Rosaleen. Despite her kind actions, her heart was a black piece of coal. Sister Ignatius is my favourite character of all; with her white heart, kind actions, hearty laughs.

The values you learn from this book are ones that I believe every person should have. I loved the idea of this story, and I always love books when an ongoing secret is revealed at the end and you find yourself linking all of the pieces together. So yeah, it was great.

This book was the first book I read by Cecelia Ahern but it wasn't what I expected. I guess I'm used to reading fantasy books and I was hoping this was much better than it actually was for me. Not that I didn't like it, but I feel it could be better. But I didn't stop reading Cecelia Ahern's books, I gave them another chance.

I would rate this book about a three and a half, but that's not an option on here. It was a quick read and kept my attention, but certain things could have been explained better in my opinion.
