I listened to this on Audible. A mixed bag, really.
Probably the best story in this collection is Schiller's "A Prisoner of Lost Honor," which introduces the very early German fascination with psychology and motivation in this sympathetic portrayal of a noted cutthroat.
For the other stories, I had to look up summaries to really understand as I listened. The Goethe story is almost opaque, but I did enjoy the romanticism of the Clemens Bretano tale.
This is a collection of B-tracks of German literature, IMO. Not greatest hits.
