Such a fun read! Lighthearted, romantic, mysterious. A little slow at first, but picks up.

I don't know how to feel about this book really. I thought I'd completely love it, but I struggled quite a bit at first, the characters and plot not really clicking with me. But I persisted and I'm kind of glad I did ? I was impressed that I managed to guess (in part, I didn't guess the full twist) the murderer quite early on. I feel like a lot of people will really enjoy this, the plot is great and pretty well executed, the characters are enjoyable and the mystery is quite engaging. Maybe I've just read it at the wrong time, because I didn't feel particularly compelled to be reading it (BBC Merlin is basically taking up all my brain space at the minute lol ! So I can't be blamed). I liked the ending, and would defo recommend it to people for a fun read !!

I liked this. It wasn't very suspenseful but entertaining.

I didn’t like that everyone viewed the ladies interview with Lizzie as a bad thing that ruined the detectives reputation. The implication was that the description of the commandments murderer caused the incompetent detective to falsely accuse the wrong man and had the case stolen from the good detective but really it was the incompetent detectives fault he didn’t interview Lizzie and it’s the good detectives fault he trusted the other detective to do his job. The ladies shouldn’t have been blamed for publishing news! Couldn’t get past this!

A fun, if predictable, murder mystery and romance. The book suffered from a number of inconsistency errors, but was otherwise easy to read and enjoyable. The characters were strong, the mystery was interesting, and the romance was believable, albeit a bit too fast.

A fun historical romance with a decent mystery.
