Lesbian superheroes? It’s always a yes.

This book is about shattergirl, a burnt out superhero in hiding and Lena, a human who hunts superheroes. They clearly are enemies but at the same time, they seem to understand each other better than anyone else. As they get to know each other, they realize that they both struggle to find their place in the world after so many hurdles and setbacks. A tentative trust and alliance blossoms into more as Lena learns more about what it means to lose your whole world and be at the mercy of the inhabitants of another planet.
The book is about so much more, though. It’s about isolation, othering, racism, prejudices and the enormous hurt these things cause.
While there is some action, some superhero saves and political scheming, it’s also a beautiful character study.

Side note: To any supergirl/supercorp fan, this book was FOR YOU. The characters reminded me SO MUCH of them and I loved it so so much.
