An creative mystery! I was thoroughly surprised by the end, even when I thought the main character (Tesla) had solved it at least twice. I don't usually read mystery-thrillers, but this is definitely one I'll be suggesting to those who do!

Loved her Lady Astronaut series. With this book, it felt like she was taking a stab at science-adjacent space romance. For me, it was an awkward slog.

I didn’t like this book. By about 30% in, I knew I didn’t like it, but kept reading because it was a book club book. I think it had to do with the author’s writing style. While I loved the disability rep, the whole thing just didn’t work for me for a variety of reasons.

The main character, Tesla Crane, is kinda a cool lady where she had a lot of potential, but not much else. She is an individual with a physical disability, is apparently a kick butt lady in STEM, there is gender inclusiveness throughout, and the plot, which is a murder mystery in space, seemed cool. All of those are pluses and are great for the story. But I had a hard time with this book, and, to be honest, I’m glad I got it through the library so I didn’t have to pay for it.

My issues with this book are numerous. But I think it all came down to the author’s voice and writing style. What could have been a fun, quirky space odyssey murder mystery turned into a boring mess. The story just starts, which is usually a plus in my book. BUT because of that, there is a lack of character building and I didn’t care about them. It was so repetitive to the point I got bored. Any time there was a problem, it got handled the exact same couple of ways. It felt like most of the book was fluff and not furthering the plot. And I was confused by the dialogue most of the time. I would have to reread sections and things to figure out who was being talked about or what was happening.

Overall this wasn’t for me. But if you like disability representation, science fiction in space, and mu
