Hackneyed dialogue, and annoying characters.

This book has earned a place on my short list of books I recommend to others. It is a fun future cozy mystery with cocktails (recipes!) It is a future where gender stereotypes are rude and pronouns are part of your introduction.

This was great. Funny and a clever mystery

It's basically '"The Thin Man" in Space' and it's pretty great.
One of the most famous people in the galaxy is on a Honeymoon Cruise with their spouse and suddenly the spouse is framed for murder.
What follows is a fun comedic mystery with a couple of good red herrings.
I hope there are more in this series.

Diverting and a fun read. Perfect for a sick day spent in bed.

This was a really unique mystery! I was on the edge of my seat guessing, and that’s fairly rare for me. The characters were interesting, but it was the core four I really fell in love with—Tesla, her new husband, her service dog Gimlet, and especially her crocheting lawyer.

The setting was fascinating, and the murders left me on the edge of my seat. Stuck on an intersolar cruise with less than helpful crew members blocking you at every turn, no one quite felt safe.

But it was the contrast between Tesla’s extremely privilege and the frankly ablist crew that made this story memorable to me. Tesla is privileged enough that she faces very specific security and privacy risks, yet she can make so many problems go away by throwing buckets of money at it. However, her chronic pain, PTSD, and mobility issues can be treated but not cured. The way disability was handled in this narrative really got me thinking, and I especially liked how her husband and service dog contributed to her life in ways I hadn’t considered before. I understand why some may find Tesla frustrating, but as a disabled woman who’s been hounded all her life, it’s no surprise she’s learned when and how to stand up for herself—and also when she needs to be aware of her privilege.

Also, Gimlet stole the story. I think we need more sci-fi dogs in general! Especially service dogs.

A twisty mystery that examines privilege, disability, and gender (I just loved the way pronouns were handled!). I’d definitely read more if this becomes a series.

It has become clear to me that I must be the Mary Robinette Kowal's target audience. I loved the lightheartness, the sweetness, and the future she describes. She can do no wrong.
