Stop talking to your shady exes!

This was a cute and compelling story that made me yell at the heroine the entire time. The premise is that Trevia is one year post a horrifically bad break up (for the awful toxic relationship we saw her in in book 1) and is still very much off men and dating and relationships, when she sees and becomes borderline obsessed with slam poet, Nyle, at a club/lounge night. But don’t worry, it’s not creepy because Nyle also noticed her and is also lowkey obsessed with her. But still traumatized by her breakup, Trevia is scared of starting something new.

I enjoyed this novel even though many times I wanted to lend the hero some common sense. She puts her extremely beautiful and healthy and supportive and respectful relationship in jeopardy because she wants to be nice to an ex! Girl bye!!! I liked this one and I’m always amazed by this author’s ability to make you feel invested in her stories and to build an imperfect but gorgeous community and family around her characters that make the story feel well-rounded. There is quite a lot of spice in this and I don’t think quite so much of it was needed but I guess spice is a matter of taste.

Trevia and Nyles

I'm looking for my Nyles because he was so smooth with his words. I don't understand how Trevia could deny this man. He was cocky but sweet, hood but intellectual. What a combination! Who the heck is Wesley after Nyles?!

Love me some Nyles!

I love me a man who can bend words and Nyles had me at hello! Alexandria knows how to create a man that makes you salivate. I love Trevia’s heart. Despite all the hurt she has endured, she is still a kind soul. Another great one!

Nyles seemed too possessive and jealous, and Trevia too codependent. I found myself side-eyeing too many parts of the story. I get it, it’s a romance, so things tend to move fast. But Nyles and Trevia’s relationship seemed to move unbelievably fast and I wasn’t quite convinced they were right for each. Trevia kept judging her sister’s relationship, but yet she made mistake after mistake and questionable choices herself. I wasn’t convinced Trevia learned anything. I wasn’t convinced that she found her own self and voice.
