Made to Love

Alexandria House

3.98 AVERAGE

“Made to Love” by Alexandria House is a compelling and heartfelt addition to the ‘Love After’ series, serving as a beautiful testament to the resilience of the human heart and the transformative power of love. Set against the vibrant backdrop of the spoken word scene, this novel tells the story of Trevia, a woman grappling with the aftermath of a painful breakup. Her resolve to steer clear of men is challenged when she encounters Nyles, a captivating spoken word artist, whose performance at her sister’s club stirs something deep within her.

The narrative expertly captures the initial hesitation and subsequent blossoming of Trevia and Nyles’ relationship. House’s portrayal of Trevia is particularly notable for its authenticity and depth. She’s not just a character rebounding from a bad breakup; she embodies the journey of healing and rediscovering self-worth. Nyles, on the other hand, is not your typical romantic lead. His patience and understanding as he gradually earns Trevia’s trust, coupled with his passion for his art, make him a refreshing and endearing character.

The chemistry between Trevia and Nyles is palpable, elevating the story beyond a simple romance. Their connection is not just physical but emotional and intellectual, making their relationship feel all the more real and significant. The theme of “love after heartbreak” is explored with a delicate balance of realism and idealism, showing that while the road to recovery can be fraught with challenges, it can also lead to unexpectedly beautiful destinations.

House’s writing style is fluid and engaging, with a knack for dialogue that captures the essence of each character. The incorporation of the spoken word element adds a unique layer to the story, allowing the characters’ emotions and histories to be expressed in a deeply personal and impactful way.

This was a cute little love story that follow Trevia McCall, a fashion designer and Nyles Adams a poet. Trevia had just gotten out a situationship with a stripper named Wesley. We learned in the last installment that Wesley had broken Trevia’s heart when she found out that the was married with 2 kids after her dealings with him for several years. When she moved on to Nyles I could tell that she was not completely healed from the trauma she went through with Wesley due to some of her actions. Nyles was definitely my favorite character in this installment I thought he was hilarious! This was a decent read and I do plan to continue on with that last of the series.
