Kinda confusing with the characters. Took awhile to connect to the characters or to want to know more about the characters.

The Reading Group: A Novel (P.S.) by Elizabeth Noble (2005)

Ok read, nothing outstanding but still ok British chick-lit. It's the story of a group of British women, their book club and their lives. Each month's book was briefly discussed and this flowed into what was occuring in the group members lives.

It struck me how we can be in our 30s and 40s and the same issues we had as teenagers still plague us as adults (in some cases just with deeper concequences).

I didn't necessarily like the book, but I kept reading it ... so I guess I must have liked something about it?

As I read the first few larger sections of this novel (the author separated these chunks into months, with the action happening between book club meetings), I was having a hard time keeping the ladies and their story lunges in place. As I got to know the main cast and what each of these women were going through, I became more and more engaged in the well-being of each characters and the members of their families. Not exactly light-weight topics, but endearing in how the members were near strangers in the beginning and became such integral members of each others lives. Overall, I very much enjoyed it.

Yawn. Snore. I kept waiting for this book to get more interesting. It did not. The one character I was most interested in was shuffled to the back of the book and forgotten about. Yawn indeed.

This book took me for freakin' ever to read. Slow going. And I'm still not sure I should have stuck with it. Ah well.

I just could not care about these characters. I wanted to say "Suck it up, Princess; MOVE ON!" to the lot of them.
