i LOVE this book!! i wasn't expecting much from this book because to be very frank, i didn't hear about this book at all so i was expecting a mid book TBH. BUT, i was genuinely surprised!
the writing was fun and whimsical, and i felt that it took heavy inspiration from a jane austen novel [which i really liked]. from the sentence structure to the vocabulary used, i found the book charming with the way it was written.
the writing, in turn, brought the characters to life -- i really liked the characters! again, like other books, they all had their flaws, which made them more dynamic and real to me. the story was character-driven, and does contain numerous monologues - which was mainly due to the writing - that did not bore me. i loved the interactions between the characters as well!
i also really liked the story's themes on sisterhood, young love, and family. and i like how all themes were elegantly discussed and showed throughout the book.
not gonna lie, i did NOT like ginny at first. i found her so insufferable and irritable. in fact, i was glad when she got told off by plum and mother at the end. but, after that bathtub incident, i definitely saw her in a new light. i reconsidered her parts in the book and noticed things i hadn't before. i liked the characters' development near the end, during this part as it was such a raw emotional moment for the main characters.
i think this is a wonderful coming of age story, especially for younger girls with sisters. it was, overall, a wholesome read!
