Part 1 & 2 were amazing, I couldn’t put the book down. The last 3 parts...I couldn’t wait to put the book down. Too much fluff, too many introductions of new characters, just too much.

This was a fun book, in my opinion. The integration of true events to the fiction of the narrative helped make the story attractive.

Intriguing book that kept my attention with characters that were far from cookie-cutter. I didn't necessarily love the ending, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good. Just not what I was expecting. Characters, plot and political situations were all very relevant and believable in today's world. I listened to this audiobook, and after the first couple chapters I found myself sitting in the car longer than I needed to just to keep listening - the sign of a good, compelling story.

Another excellent book by Silva with the word “girl” in the title. I loved that when the book starts out you think you know who the eponymous new girl is, but you really don’t. It’s one of Silva’s most hopeful books but also one of his most morally ambivalent. Also apparently his first cliffhanger ending. Can’t wait for the next book!

4.5 stars - It's wonderful to see that Daniel Silva listens to those who've read his books, as this book was engaging, fast-moving, full of intrigue, and refreshingly free of excessive political rhetoric - well done!! My only regret (and the reduction of 1/2 star), was that I was not fully satisfied with the ending, although I am rather certain as to why it was done!

I have always liked and been impressed with Daniel Silva’s books. Somehow, they are always current. If you look at the lead time involved in writing, editing and printing the books, it is amazing that they were written before current events happened. This one was one of the most prescient of them all. He even talks in the preface about how he had to put the manuscript aside for a couple of months because the similarities to current events was just too close.
Gabriel Allon is one of the best protagonists in any series I have read. I have read all 19 books in the series and look forward to the next one each time. You can enjoy this book as a stand-alone story because he summarizes past plots. I think you will get more out of the story if you have read earlier books, however. I highly recommend this book!
