Kind of weird pacing but overall it’s a fun read. Dark, kooky, a little funny. VERY interesting characters.

What a strange book....I am wavering between 3 and 4 stars. I found parts of this book quite beautiful and striking and parts of the book quite random and disconnected and overall, I found a tremendous amount just left oddly hanging.

I liked the use of floors of the apartment building to introduce the web of characters, who begin unrelated and then begin to merge as the book progresses.
I didn’t like that Blandine is a little too much the magic pixie girl trope.
I did like the themes of urban decay, capitalism, isolation, patriarchy, spirituality all sort of working off each other.
There was this moment of joy for me around p 200 where I started to feel that everything was building into something amazing—but then I felt a little let down with the ending. I was hoping for a little more. *spoiler* It felt like what happened was exactly what it said would happen in the first paragraph and having read the whole book didn’t leave me experiencing that in a much different way. Too many threads felt forgotten.
