I’ve been hearing a lot about this series lately. People saying it goes hard into body horror and the story has been great for 20+ issues. So I decided to jump in and get the first hardcover. And I was not disappointed.
Ivy and Harley are not together. Ivy thinks she’s doing a noble deed by releasing a toxic and aggressively mutating fungus as she travels through America trying to spread it as far as possible.
She’s killing people’s left and right and I love it. I’ve grown tired of villains being turned into antihero’s and not being bad anymore. Well Ivy is definitely bad in this comic.
It also reminded me of some of the best moments of the 80s and 90s swamp thing run since she’s dealing with the green and the Floronic man, which I loved.

This was a lot. Doesn’t hold back on the gross and the gore, which made it quite a challenge to read at times. However, an entire book about Ivy wasn’t something I could pass up. She’s fascinating here—rageful and murderous, yet unable to fight her human instincts to save people. The love letter to Harley that underpins the whole story is incredible- there’s one page that hit me emotionally. I love this pairing so much and I hope they’re reunited soon.

This was such a great insight into the psyche of Ivy! This comic was extremely character driven and whilst I did enjoy that I do think it needed a more constant villain rather than Mr Green showing up at the end for just one fight scene. I’m a huge Ivy stan so I enjoyed this comic so much and the letters to Harley throughout were so precious

A pretty solid examination of COVID 19, climate change, consumerism, anti-capitalism, and the human condition wrapped into an entertaining and thoughtful poison ivy book that unfortunately stumbles a bit at the ending (though the very end is still satisfying)

I’m a sucker for anything with Poison Ivy, and this introductory volume does a good job of telling a beautiful story that captures her essence and how she’s not really a villain, even if her methods are less than innocent.

I picked this up because I just love Ivy, however I have no idea what events took place before this series. Somehow Ivy is slightly depowered closer to her original appearance or earlier appearances with slight plant control and not really the full goddess mode linked with The Green. She’s on a path of vengeance with her old nemesis The Floronic Man and leaving a trail of bodies in her wake. It was a great insight into the character that is Poison Ivy and a better look at her motives and feelings.
