Whoa, this was WAY better than I expected. I never even knew this series was running the last few years but fuck, this was awesome!

Basically Poison Ivy goes on a road trip around America slowly sending our spoors, ready to enact the end of humanity for what they've done. First off, love this idea, and love this version of Pamela. Vicious when needed, but loving side does show. Especially for plants and the Green. I really loved all her intimate moments with Harley and the stuff with The Green King was fantastic. Art is also insanely good throughout.

It does feel a little padding in the middle, but overall this is a must read for fans of the characters, fan of horror, and fans of just good comics. A 4.5 out of 5.

Loved the story and the art.
I wasn't expecting the body and cosmic horror, but since I'm a fan of both, it was a nice surprise.
Also, a lot of nods to The Last of Us, which is one of my favourite games of all time.
Lots to love in this one.

Poison Ivy's solo run in The Virtuous Cycle is just a great run at least for this first volume (I did not read the rest). We got some body horror, we have some prime villain/vigilante run up and amazing artwork and coloring. Poison Ivy's always been a fave of mine so I was stoked to read this to begin with and may have been biased. Oh well.  We did this for our Graphic Novel Club at my local comic book store. The discussion surrounding this was great. People are way more analytical and critical than me, and I 'm pretty sure I'm a potato as far as brain function goes after I listen to the peeps in there. There was a consensus though among us that the change of Poison Ivy's 'end game' might have made it weaker but this also allowed the series to continue so I mean depends on how you view that on if you'll enjoy the change up of her feelings or not. Also. Poison Ivy road tripping? Chef's kiss.

I'll definitely be reading the other volumes of this. Also, just for the initial mindset of Poison Ivy and the art alone it's 4.75/5 for me.

"The time for heroes is over. What we need now are assassins. Saboteurs. Revolutionaries. People who are not afraid to defend what is left of the earth. With violence when necessary. Justice is not coming. But retribution may still be within reach. I'm confident we can find a way."

hauntingly beautiful, bittersweet and kafkaesque writing tied together with stunning art.

this is one of the best comic runs that's being produced right now, which says alot since 95% of what DC is putting out is........... not good. I love that the writers are diving into Poison ivy's character and trauma, and how it relates to her relationship with Harley. I'm glad that she can finally have her own independent run, and i think that this volume is a really great start for her series.

Character studies in media will always be my favourite thing in the world to read and write about, and this story dives headfirst into Ivy's mind and inner workings- her struggle with humanity and , how the 1% continuously destroy the planet to fuel their own greed. At the beginning, she directs her rage to humanity itself- everyone on the planet, hell bent on destroying the entire human race. Yet, despite planting roots into her master plan of destruction, she finds herself weighed down by her own morality. For someone who seeks to kill all human life (including herself), she goes on monologues bordering on poetry and song just to describe simple mundanities of life.

""i love the world. i love every root and seed. I love every little pollinating insect. And I love you. It's just that those are the only two things that I love. Everything in between, I cant stand"

It's both beautiful and devastating to stay in her mind and see through her eyes. She's a juxtaposition of herself. She loves so much it turns into anger . She wants to kill everyone yet helps others through injustices. She's flawed and so, so interesting.

Towards the end of the volume she comes to the realization that she was directing her anger to the wrong people. "I dont know if its the lamia toxin or the long days on the road or the people i've met along the way-- but when i look at this child, I see more than just one individual. We float in our own ecosystem of symbiotic bacteria. We exhale and the trees inhale. Billions of tiny organisms call our bodies home. To the microscopic beings alive on his skin, this child is the entire universe. We are meant to be here. We are not a mistake. And we can still pull it back from the brink."

Which I really loved, and found this arc relatable, as of course the one thing the ruling class wants most is for us to turn on each other- to hate each other and blame our neighbors for the end of the world, when in reality it's the 1 percent causing all the damage.

I'm excited to read more, especially now that Harley and Ivy may be on the road to making up (i'm a sucker for harlivy, kill me for it.) really what I'm trying to say is that this comic run is right up my alley and i luv it. (ivy is my wife)
