Over 8 hours I feel like the Society and people of Guernsey became my friends as much as they became Juliet's. The narrators' performances were just incredible and brought the characters' voices to life in such a lively way. This book was truly made for a full-cast audio production.

I particularly loved
Sidney and Isola's
budding friendship and
Juliet and Kit's
relationship - neither of which quite got their due in the film version.

Comfort book all the way!! I want the calming descriptions of Guernsey, Elisabeth's cottage and wildflower meadow, and the sea etched into my heart. It feeds my hopeless romantic cottagecore soul and makes me ache for a  home the same Juliet discovered in these pages. It's a story about the aftermath of war, the scars it left, community, orphans, families (especially found), shy love, homes, and finding your home.

I thought this was lovely, and a beautiful story of resistance and resilience of a small occupied island during WW2 that we don't hear much about. I loved the epistolary format, and thought that the characters were all beautifully unique and well drawn

I listened to this as an audiobook that had a large cast of narrators to cover all of the different voices, and I adored it. I didn't know much about the book going into it, I knew I had liked the movie and one of my favorite narrators (Rosalyn Landor) was included. It is much better than the movie. Despite being told in epistolary style, the characters feel so rich and real. It was easy to see how Juliet would grow to love them, and they to love her.

A charming read. I thought this was a very melancholic but sweet tale, and the characters’ experiences during the occupation were moving.

I did struggle with the writing style a bit at first (an epistolary novel I believe it’s called??) but I ended up really liking it. I think the film adaption is great, but I think I might prefer the book a lil more.
