Reread: I missed this manga and now that I know the end I am catching a lot more details!
Definitively my favourite manga author and a auto-buy. Cannot wait to read the rest of this series

I LOVED THE ARTWORK IN THIS! This book was absolutely beautiful! The plot was pretty interesting as well. Can't wait for the next!

I've read the first 2 books so far and I'm undecided on this series. The art is very nice in places (except for the hideously clunky shoes), but some of the characters seem much too similar to ones from other series--for example, Break is reminiscent of Fai from CLAMP's Tsubasa crossed with Undertaker from Black Butler, and is annoyingly (rather than humorously) eccentric; the girl he's often with seems like an inanimate prop ("We need another Young Female Character to put frilly clothes on!" "Uhhh, just take one out of the box..."); Raven (who looks a lot like the Noah in D Gray Man...actually the contracting idea feels very D Gray Man-like, too) is so far the most interesting character and he's not even the protagonist! At this point I'm reading on mostly just to see more of him. The real protagonist, Oz, is ANNOYINGLY chipper and optimistic; it's jarring and feels unnatural, even deranged. They seem to be trying to make this a result of some mysterious thing in his Deep Dark Past, but the abrupt switches from 'acts like a standard Nice Kid' to 'is mean to his servant, what a jerk' to 'ugh, freaking Polyanna' makes him seem like an inconsistent cardboard character, only there to give Gil a sense of purpose. They need to make up their minds about Oz's personality and drop a few more hints about his mysterious past (and supposed 'sin') for me to be more interested than annoyed.
The Abyss and everything around it (including Chains) is not well-explained; I hope they get to that soon, because the entire plot drives around it and it feels clunky having so little idea of what it might be--they really should have said more about it by the end of book 2! Alice, aka B-Rabbit (what's with so many Alice in Wonderland references in so many manga?!) is so far just a seemingly obligatory Alice in Wonderland reference for stylistic purposes, combined with Obligatory Sullen Badass Girl Character; they'd better develop her character soon. Her powers aren't well explained yet, which is confusing. In general the major arc and most of the characters just feel very under-developed right now, all style with frustratingly little substance.
I will try the next couple of volumes for sure based solely on artwork and interest in Raven, but they'd better get their plotting act together soon to make this into an engaging story!
