I love Hemingway (his writing, not his misogyny) and I couldn't stand this book. It made Hadley even less of a three-dimensional character, which I don't think was the aim. Also offers a good warning about committing pet names to paper. Feather Cat? Really?

If you are curious about the Hemingways, read "Paris Without End."

Great read. Didn't quite have the romantic description of Paris that I was hoping for, but it was a very interesting read. Now feeling like I need to read some Hemingway...

Really enjoyed this story about Ernest Hemingway's first wife. I will say that I was insanely frustrated with her at times, but I tried to remind myself about the whole "it was a different time" bs. Overall, an interesting retelling of a love story.

Eh...

I enjoyed the beginning and end -- written more as s novel. The guts of the book had some interesting bits, but were mostly tedious.

Makes me want to go and reread Papa. I haven't read A Moveable Feast yet, but will add that to my to-read list. Overall, quick and easy read

Having not read any of Ernest Hemingway's books, it could have been a faltering factor in my decision to stop reading the book... but I know it isn't. The characters in this book were tedious and repetitive and most of all, made me angry. All Hadley seemed to ever do was see what Hemingway was doing to their marriage but insist she didn't want to do anything about it due to it possibly getting in the way of his writing.

There is no plot to this story and no excitement. Shame... the concept had great potential.
