I’ve had a lot of people recommend this trilogy to me. I started reading City of Bones on Saturday morning and I've been reading it non-stop for the past two days. I couldn’t put it down! It’s definitely earned a spot on my Favorites shelf. Hopefully, the rest of the trilogy is just as good.

City of Bones is very suspenseful. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. In fact, I’m still on the edge of my seat. There’s a twist at the end and I’m dying to know whether it’s true because it will affect so much in the series. I really want to start reading City of Ashes, the next book in the trilogy, but I’m afraid I won’t go to bed tonight if I start reading it now.

I liked the story in general, but I wasn't a fan of the authors style of writing. She likes to go into too much detail that I find a little bizzare. The way she describes things is weird, but I guess that's just how she does it. The ending of the story kind of stressed me out, but it did make me want to keep reading, which is a definite plus on her part. All in all I would say it's a decent read.

Even though it took me a while to really get into it, this book ended up being amazing! The story is kind of slow at the beginning, with the whole story of Simon being transformed into a rat, but when I got half way through the things started speeding up a bit. I absolutely loved this book, although I prefer The Infernal Devices saga. 4/5 stars, hoping that the next books make me fall in love with the series as much as the other one!

yea this is a really random rating i know, but i seriously can't decide on any other rating for this.

i have been putting off reading this book forever, mainly because it's part of a huge series and an even huger world of books, but i finally read it, and i don't regret it.

while the beginning dragged a little, it got super interesting towards the end of the middle of the book!

i really enjoyed most of the characters of this book (excluding jace ummm,,, he's not my favorite i'm sorry) also magnus is my favorite rn STAN HIM FOR CLEAR SKIN. ok i just had to say that.

anyways, the events that happened in this book were pretty decent, and i was able to picture them pretty well.

the one thing i have to say though is that i'm a little uncomfy with the whole jace and clary being siblings. like uhhhh,,, they had a make out session and now you're gonna tell me they're siblings? wHat

that's about it though, and i definitely plan on reading the other two books in the og trilogy plus the infernal devices trilogy this year. hopefully that happens!

so this was a reread, the last time i read this book i was in middle school and at the time i thought it was PEAK literature, a 6/5 star book, one of my comfort books, and it kicked off my obsession with the shadowhunter world. that being said, i still really really enjoyed listening to the book again, it was just as captivating and the writing was still pretty good in my opinion and thankfully wasn’t a case of middle school me have low expectations.
i really enjoyed the fact that the end of the book fixed the whole pitting isabelle and clary against each other, and i forgot how high school the unrequited love thing between clary and simon was, but again, im glad that they get over that pretty quickly in the book. rereading this basically solidified my stance that this is one of my favorite books, save for the whole clary and jace being brother and sister (even though they actually aren’t. i really don’t like that part, but because i was in middle school when i read the whole series i didn’t care so now that i know that they aren’t in kinda indifferent about it.
i just love the characterization and the world that is built in this book omg!!!
