Wreck My Plans by Jillian Meadows
Rating | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Words can't express how much I LOVE this book!! This is most likely my last holiday read for the year and it was such a great one to end with. Lena and Gavin's story made me go through a roller coaster of emotions. Seeing how their friendship started, the pining and flirting, their chemistry. Gavin fell first and HARD. This man is obsessed with Lena and it makes him really attractive. He always looks out for her and does whatever she needs without asking. He truly cares about Lena and her family, making him a perfect book boyfriend. The story was sweet and spicy. Oh my lord, the spice was spectacular!! Literally got me giggling and made my jaw drop. This book is literally sugar, spice, and everything nice.
Both characters want the best for everyone in their life and as a result, sacrifice their needs for the sake of others. Seeing how Gavin held back for 10 years and how he felt like he didn't deserve Lena broke my heart. This man has a heart of gold and deserves the whole world and more. I loved reading about him and seeing him build the life he should've had from the beginning. And Lena, I feel so seen with her. Not only with how she chooses others before herself, but also how she struggles figuring out what to do and how she views love in her life. Getting to see the whole story play out in both POVs was done seamlessly. Overall, I enjoyed reading Wreck My Plans so much!! And I plan to read more of Jillian's books in the future.
Jillian Meadows, I wasn't expecting to bawl my eyes out reading this. I'm taking what you written was advice to try and live by. Thank you for writing Lena and Gavin because I never felt so seen until now.

Lena arrives back to her family home unexpectedly for Christmas and is greeted by Gavin, her brothers best friend, who she hasn't seen in 3 years after he left a Christmas party and walked away with no explaination. Gavin has adored Lena for 10 years, but she's off limits, so he has to try to push his feelings aside. Having been in the foster system for years and having found family with Lena's, he can't risk losing them or her. Lena's always had a thing for Gavin, but this Christmas, it's proving impossible to stay away from him. Maybe they can have just one night? Maybe not...
This was such a great festive read! There's found family, forced proximity, only one bed, he fall first (and hard), brothers best friend and a bit of an age gap all wrapped up with a bow on top. The tension that builds between Lena and Gavin is amazing - the lingering looks, the brief, gentle touches, and intoxicating smells - it's like the most delicious Christmas treat. I also adored the small town vibes, the festive spirit, and the heat that's as hot as an open fire

I loved “Give Me Butterflies” and was excited to read this book. It features Lena, Millie’s friend from GMB.
Lena and Gavin have liked each other for 10 years but never acted on it. Gavin feels he’s too old for Lena, and not good enough for her.
I don’t love the trope this book uses where the MC’s don’t share all of their feelings and think they’re doing the other person a favor by staying away from them. These are grown adults, just talk to each other!
Despite that I did still enjoy the book and the epilogues were really great. There was no third act breakup, just a short freak out between the MC’s. I’d give it a 4.5/5 on the spicy scale.

Jillian Meadows wins the Yearning Award for the year. We were barely in chapter TWO and the way this man would crawl, beg, steal for her?? The yearning was jumping off the page and smacking me in the face, left! And! Right! I loved it. It gave me life. This was a really sweet story and the spice was off the charts hot. I love me a brother’s best friend. And watching this man be a FATHER??? Good bye, good night. It was too much, my fragile heart couldn’t take it.

This was a cute holiday romance that's jammed-packed with romance tropes. Gavin has known Lena since he was 29 and she was 19, we start with an age-gap romance which I love. What makes it better is Gavin is best friends (and business partners) with Lena's brother, it's clear that the two have always felt a bit of a romantic connection.
I enjoyed how our characters were written, both are dealing with their struggles but can come together in the end to help each other out. There's a lot of will they, won't they. For being a cinnamon roll, Gavin sure does a lot of dirty talking when he and Lena finally decide to cross the line together. There's tension between our characters at first, Gavin has always spent his holidays with Lena's family until he suddenly stops, and hasn't been back in years. Gavin has never felt wanted in his life until he's swept under the family's wing and they all show him unconditional love.
It's nice seeing these two reconnect once again and I found myself swooning over Gavin. I wasn't overly a fan of Lena's, I feel like she was overly flirty with Gavin when he would mention how they can't be together. I think my favourite part of the book was the epilogue! It makes you fall in love with our characters all over again, and it was so nice to see them create and thrive in their new family dynamic.
