Listen, as a recovering horse girl, I wanted to like this book so much, but it was so completely not for me. Molly and Shani are both the asshole in the situation, and even though Nat was absolutely not in the right for what she did at the end, I can at least kind of empathize with her. If one of my friends upended their entire life to go all in on something they'd never expressed interest in before, and then immediately started dating someone who is at best kind of a dick, I'd also be incredibly confused and concerned!! Also I do not believe these two are in it long term. Maybe an epilogue would have helped their case, but I give it like 6 months.
I think this book could have potentially worked better as a dual POV. I feel like we got a little too close to Molly, but it feels unbalanced because we never get anywhere close to that level of introspection with Shani, which might have made her come off a little better (and getting a break from Molly's POV would probably have helped her to not come off so whiny all the time lol). The author also does this thing where instead of writing actual deep emotional dialogue, there's just a sort of montage where it's like "we stayed up and talked about x,y, and z," but like...I want to read the actual dialogue? Hello?? It robbed those moments of vulnerability of any emotional impact whatsoever.
I didn't like the resolution (or lack thereof) with Nat or Molly's mom, I wish the side characters had been more developed, I wish there was more use of the horses themselves and more about the horse world, because for a horse farm romance, the horses felt like one of the least important parts. Frankly the only reason I finished it was because it was like a slow motion train wreck: I knew it wasn't gonna end well, but I had to see what happened. I will say, the sex scenes were pretty good though, so points for that. This book had so much potential, and I wanted to like it so badly, but overall it just left me extremely underwhelmed and annoyed at all parties involved.

I liked this but it felt very repetitive. Every time that they were in a good place something would go wrong and they would be mad at each other again. I think that an epilogue could have helped a little with this problem since se don't see them happy for very long.
I received an arc through netgalley.

Why were these characters so needy and bad at communicating? 😭
I know that’s a common trope for romances but all these people do is misunderstand each other instead of working on their fear of abandonment.
Still giving it 3 stars because you know, sapphic romance after all
