This story is a nail-biter, even reading it for the second time! If your chid is interested in John Muir or an adventure story that will make them hold their breath, this is the book. I would never, never do what John Muir and Stickeen did in this book, but it is fun to read about.

refreshing, exciting, freeing for people dulled by the black roads,concrete houses, congestion, human chatter. The land of glaciers with adventurous ,poetic Muir & courageous Stickeen is very inviting & vigorous trip.

One of my daughter's favorites for when I'd read to her at bedtime. A great, little adventure story, infused with Muir's passion for wild nature.
