I feel maternal towards the pope. Oh god it's like on letterboxd where U give the movie a certain star rating but you give it a heart anyway because it means so much to you. Benítez is my son and his relationship with god makes me feel so many things I actually did cry .

I can't wait to watch the movie

Engaging and enjoyable to read even though I've seen the movie. An interesting insight into the papal election process. Some odd random moments where Lomelli just discusses celibacy seemingly out of nowhere.

Though I still don't understand how the winning cardinal's votes went from 5 to 19 when Trembley falls. Like how??

Really enjoyed it! although it did take some time to get around to reading it and sometimes felt like a struggle to pick up after a couple days off- it was easy to get into a groove and finish the last third in a day.

I watched the movie this year (before the Pope passed) and I’m so glad I did, I had a feeling it would connect with me and I ended up really liking the story and Lomeli/Lawrence’s character. It was nice (speculative) insight into a world I don't know anything about - and the book/movie duo complement each other well - definitely want to buy a copy if I see it around (and maybe try some other Robert Harris novels in the future as well!)

I saw the movie in theaters in November 2024, so I decided to read the book along with the audiobook!

The book is just as great as the movie, but helped to make this an immersive reading experience after taking a break for a while.

it was weird that my due date for this was the day after Pope Francis passed away.
