“I fell in love with a true villain and learned my lesson. In the hardest way possible.”

Three years ago I was cast out and left with my best friend and took off with fake passports. Iv been in hiding but my past is catching up with me. Luciano a ruthless mobster, my husband, the man I never wanted to see is back. He never believed me back then so what's the point if you can't even trust your own family….

I enjoyed this book and story. Luciano is apart of the criminal underworld, owns a casino and is 40. He is very possessive of his wife but also can't stand her for what she did. Grace 24 is smart, fiery but has a vulnerable side. But will do anything to protect her family. I loved her and her best friends relationship. Also Lucianos dad is the sweetest. You did meet a lot of characters in this so at times I was lost on who is who but as you continued with the story it unraveled more. There was just enough spice and enjoyed the narration of the audiobook.

This started off with a bang. Well two bangs of both definitions if you know what I mean. 😏

But unfortunately I didn't like this one. It really did have a really good start. I was highly intrigued. I was here for the secret baby drama. But soon after when Luciano took Grace home, I got bored. I don't know how I finished this book.

The plot was thrown out the window when they reunited. I already noticed from the start that the book was really repetitive and it didn't get better. How many iterations do we need of Luciano talking about his friends' crime specialties? It was literally back to back paragraphs. Get a better editor please.

Also I couldn't care less about what every one of Luciano's friends were up to if it wasn't pertinent to the story here. Cassie and Nico I get. But his friends who were from NOLA and barely had screen time? No thanks.

Grace, I really liked her at the beginning. She felt like a badass who was protective of her peace, her bestie Ella, and her son. But then she turned really stubborn and stupid. Really stupid.

The couple barely communicated. They held onto their assumptions and didn't even try to actually argue and clear the air. They just fucked then Grace would say "I hate you" then Luciano would demand she be his wife while also believing she's a traitor. 🙄 Outside of sex, they didn't even spend much time together. A lot of the shit could've been avoided if they argued/talked. Heck Luciano didn't even grovel for what he did to her at the beginning. He just said "sorry I love you lolz always have." (Paraphrased.)

I also think this would've been better if we got to see them fall in love outside of flashbacks. Or again, fall in love again on page in the present timeline. Also a lot of the flashbacks were useless.

Luciano was also really dumb. I was impressed. Man is pushing 40 as a crime boss and he can't figure out what his wife is up to and do the math that her son is his despite numerous hints dropped??

The only good things were the two Matteos. Baby Matteo and Nonno Matteo. They were cute together.

Although the beginning was a little off paste, it finally settled down in the next chapter.

Even though I feel that we were missing the beginning, and started in the middle of their story.

Other than that the plot was really good and tense. Nice and spicy.

Would recommend if you like Mafia Romances, but there is some trigger warnings doing with SA and trafficking.
