I am a little biased as I really this author, in particular this Ernest Cunningham series. So I really liked the book but it for sure didn’t hit as hard as the other two. Honestly I felt like it could have been a lot better if it wasn’t so short. I understand that it was trying to be this Christmas novella vibes but it definitely wasn’t as fleshed out or detailed as the other books.
A part of me feels sad that I listened to it (although it was a super fun experience) rather than read it. I kind of wish I did the whole Christmas advent calendar reading vibes but that’s okay!
Even though it wasn’t as good, it still has a fun mystery vibe and the writing I just find so refreshing. Yes it was a bit easier to figure out the ending but with this series sometimes it’s far fetched that it was just a fun time.
One thing I didn’t love was that there was almost too much revealed, like there wasn’t enough time from the beginning of him telling us he will get shot and hang from a cable car to when it actually happened. At least in the regular books I kind of have time to forget those details. But that’s just my opinion :)
Overall, I will 100% keep reading this series.

Not bad, but there was enough plot and characters for a full-length novel, so I don't really understand why it's just a 200-page book. And I know, it's supposed to be a Holiday Special, but it felt more like a Magic Show Special to me. While the story takes place around Christmas and many clues are Christmas themed, there were really no festive vibes transported here. But who am I to judge, I read it in February.
