This is another Holocaust book but based loosely on a true story about a man named Lale and a woman named Gita. If you want to go for historical accuracy skip this book because a lot of things are not so realistic but clearly changed - it's also more of a love story which I loved- I just really struggled to connect with any characters besides the two that disappear and are presumed dead - they are never mentioned again anyways, but I didn't find myself really caring or connecting to any of the main characters. Both Lale and Gita are insanely lucky that they both made it through alive and that their love stood the test of time and that they found each other again so soon after the camps got liberated. Loved that for them - but the story... it was all right just not accurate and maybe a bit boring compared to other books about holocaust- still not a bad book about it by any means there are just better and more historically accurate books out there. I will still read the sequels though because I am curious to see what they talk about.
