An interesting book and one that I became quite absorbed in as the riots were described. I had never heard of the Gordon Riots but it sounds as though it was a grim time.

I really enjoyed this novel. It started out as a classic gothic novel, then took a sharp left turn into the Gordon Riots (which I knew nothing about before this week). I think I enjoyed the first half more than the second, but overall I really enjoyed all the characters - especially Barnaby and Grip.
