SPOILER ALERT! If you haven’t read Unearthly yet, STOP! I don’t want to ruin the story for you.

Clara Gardner, part-angel, had a purpose on Earth to fulfill, just like all angel bloods. Only instead of completing her task, she runs into a fallen angel who takes her on a five minute trip to Hell and tries to kill her mother. Clara is able to fight him off using her glory, a holy light, and rushes off to save a boy from a forest fire, just like in her vision. Only Clara rushes off to save her boyfriend, Tucker Avery, instead of Christian Prescott, the boy from her vision. When Tucker is safe, Clara goes to the forest from her vision to find out that it has already been destroyed by the fire. Distraught, Clara soon discovers that Christian didn’t need to be saved since he is part angel as well.

Hallowed picks up five days after the events in the conclusion of Unearthly with Clara and Tucker back at the sight of the first forest fire looking for signs of his horse, Midas. Clara is becoming increasingly torn between her love for Tucker and her growing feelings for Christian, who is not who she originally thought he was. To add to her complicated feelings, she realizes that her purpose on Earth is not straightforward like she thought. Soon Clara begins to have a new vision and someone important in her life is not there, it seems to be their funeral.

Join Clara on her continuing journey of self-discovery that is filled with shocking twists and provides some much needed background information for her to make some major decisions and her purpose on Earth and the future.

I really enjoyed this book. It has so many fun elements and a plot that kept moving. I zipped right through it and was excited for the next one.

Okay, this was really good. I liked the first one more, but this was still really good. It was REALLY sad for so many different reasons, and I wasn't expecting it to be a sad book...SURPRISE! I can't wait to finish the series!
SpoilerTeam Tucker...poor guy. I loved Tucker in the first book. He was the sweetest guy I have ever read about. I fell in love with his character. I hated Christian once Tucker was in the picture. Christian is just so strange, I just don't know. I feel so bad for Tucker, that the human is always the one that gets left behind. Stupid Christian being an angel too. Hate it. I can totally tell who she will end up with in the end, and it makes me super mad. I do have to admit though that in the second book about half way in to the end I didn't like either of the male characters. They were annoying and a bit clingy. But they were supposed to be like that. And oh my gosh. When I knew that the mom was dying I felt like crying the entire rest of the book. I did end up crying a few times, cuz it was so SAD!!

I was so excited anticipating this book because I really enjoyed the first one despite my complete lack of interest in angels as a paranormal creature/focus. But it was not what I expected. Cynthia Hand, you were not supposed to make me cry! The book also did a bait and switch on the romance angle, which I was determined not to like but found myself giving in a little. And the ending is one of those where you cannot see the next plot twist coming down the road...a completely different direction than I expected. So, well played, Ms. Hand (though I am still mad about the crying). I'll be waiting patiently for Book 3.

This book made me cry. How Hand wrote the loss and the coping of that loss struck an emotional chord with me. I thought she created a vivid and beautiful picture that still lingers in my mind. The reason I only gave 3 stars though is the rest of the book was a little boring and slow for me.

Really enjoyed this sequel. It was great to be back with the characters I liked from the first book, as well as some intriguing new ones.

Well written, and kept me interested throughout the book. Didn't feel myself getting bored, although I was not too surprised how the ending came about.

A joy to read. Would suggest this to all those who enjoy YA novels.

Clara believes she has messed up her cause, and keeps having this dream/vision of attending a funeral. She thinks it is for Tucker, but then discovers it is her mum's. The Black Wing tries to hurt her, but she manages to escape, but Tucker and his sister Avery are injured. She and Christian become closer and Clara begins to think that Tucker may have a better future with someone normal, so she breaks up with him. Clara meets her dad and discovers he is a full angel and she is actually a triplare (3 quarters angel) and is in fact stronger than her friend (sorry forgot the name)...
So at the end she is feeling lost without Tucker but looking forward for a future with Christian?
