I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this, I’ve never read a prisoner romance before (is that what you’d call this?). Anyway I LOVED it. A quick and steamy read with unexpected heart.

I love a reformed hero, changing his ways to be worthy of the woman he loves, so perfect!

I am a fan of Sophie Jordan's, and I'll admit that while I was excited about this book I was a little nervous as well. It is different from anything she has done before, and it is set in prison. I shouldn't have worried at all though, as I absolutely loved it! I couldn't put this book down, and I am so glad that I stepped a bit outside my comfort zone with this story.

When Briar Davis volunteers to help as a nurse at a prison, she never intends for it to be a long term situation and she definitely doesn't plan to feel anything for any of the prisoners there. But when she meets Knox Callaghan, she knows there is something different about him right away. Though they both know that she should be off-limits to him, they can't help but feel the attraction and connection between them. Knox feels protective of Briar and yet he knows that he needs to stay away from her since she is sweet and innocent. But when Knox is paroled, he finds it harder to stay away from her than he expected.

I really liked both Knox and Briar. These two were super hot together and I couldn't get enough! Knox was very protective of her, and I did think at times it got to be a bit much. But honestly it wasn't that hard to believe with who he was and everything that he had been through. Briar was sweet and I loved that she knew who Knox was and still felt the way she did. She didn't judge him or treat him any differently and I really liked that about her. She was able to see the man he was underneath, rather than just his facade and what the rest of the world saw.

Overall, this was a great story and I really enjoyed not only Briar and Knox, but also the rest of the characters as well. I am really loving where Sophie Jordan was leading us here, and I can't wait for the next book to see more of Reid. This was a great start to the series, and I think a lot of readers will really enjoy this book. It was raw and gritty, and it was really refreshing to read something that was different than everything else out there. If you are familiar with Sophie Jordan's work, you know that she is a great writer. That was definitely the case here as well, and I am really loving each new book I read from her. If you are looking for something a bit different, I highly recommend giving this one a shot! Sophie Jordan has never let me down, and I loved All Chained Up from start to finish.

"His mood was dangerous. He wasn't fit company. He should go for a run and work off some energy. Except he didn't feel like running. He had another activity in mind. Activity that involved himself in soft eyes and wild caramel hair."

I didn't expect to fall in love with this book, and I did. I fall in love with it badly.
I love the book so much. It literally is a don't judge a book by it's cover read.
This is the type of bad boy good girl book I wanted!

The book was nicely written with solid plotline, intense chemistry and I love the two POV we got.
Of course its a heavily romance book so not much of subjects that we got was really invested like PTSD, sexual assault, abusive and family dynamic.
The topics was there but the author didn't really touch upon it.

The sexual tension was intense.
Whenever sexy time was happening, I feel like I shouldn't be reading them.
Like I was watching an intimate moment. However the love story was so beautiful.
You see such raw emotions from both sides.
I love that Briar stood up for herself even though she knows she couldn't resist the temptation.
We see a side of Knox we don't see much in masculine guys in romance story.
I enjoy that we get a sneak peek of the next book which I am so excited about!

I am going to devour this series!

"I knew I blew it, but I'll wait until you realize I'm sincere. I can be patient. I spent years in prison waiting to be free. Waiting, even though I didn't know it then... for you."

Unusual setting, Convict hero and nurse heroine. Really enjoyed this one. It's nice to see a convict with morals and a conscious. The guy has anger issues and I would have like to see the nurse suggesting counseling. Looking forward to the next story!

I think I might be a bigger fan of Sophie's contemporary than her historical stuff, not something I ever thought I'd say. But so far I prefer that she had a strong capable heroine, and she was for the entire story, the Alpha protector wasn't a bad thing either :)
Briar is a nurse and she volunteers to help out the Dr. she works for at the local prison once a week, where she meets inmate Knox. Knox is almost instantly protective of her and he saves her from being abused when the hospital ward is taken over by 2 inmates. He's paroled almost right after and she doesn't get to thank him. A couple months and an ice cream craving later however.... many steamy things happen.
Here's hoping all her contemporary heroines are strong like Briar.

TW: abuse and attempted rape

All Chained Up started off slow but when it picked up I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. However, I had issues with how long it took the hero to find himself worthy of the heroine and the way in which it took place. It just didn't sit well with me and took away from my overall enjoyment of the book.

Wow! Sophie Jordan's foray into an edgier contemporary romance genre was so worth a lost night of sleep! I'm an SJ fan, but wasn't sure how she was going to pull off a story that starts out in prison. I never should have worried. From the first interaction between Knox and Briar, I was hooked. They had amazing chemistry, but more importantly each of the characters has a code that they live by. Knox is a protector, and Briar is a caregiver, but both have the strength to handle life's hard knocks. These two were perfect together! There was no judgement, just the acceptance that for whatever reason, they had an immediate connection.
I'd rate this book 4.5 stars. For my tastes, the ending was just a bit rushed, especially after a chapter that focuses on setting up the plot for the next book. It seemed a little awkward & pulled me out of the story a bit. Still, this is one of my favorite reads this year and I'm anxiously awaiting the next book!
