This is the third book I've read by this author. Enjoyed the setting and bringing some of the characters in from "The Cliff House." I thought the characters were really well developed with multiple storylines going on and enjoyed chapters written from the major characters' viewpoints.
I thought the story dragged in places and could have been shorter than it was. In fact, some of the repetition of information already provided earlier in the book, was kind of annoying to me.
It is a light read and, as usual with Ms. Thayne's books, had a happy ending.
If I could, I would rate it 3.5 stars.

This is an enjoyable, closed-door romance that is delightfully predictable! It's a good vacation read, and definitely entertaining.

The story is as sweet as the cover of The Sea Glass Cottage. The cover designer did an amazing job, as I wanted to climb right into Cape Sanctuary. As far as I can tell this is a standalone novel, and does tie up all loose ends. Although, it could be a duology with Cooper's sister's story (I think her name is Melody, or maybe...Melanie). Olivia works a busy day job, and on the side is building up her own social media firm in Seattle. When her mother has a fall and will need some help, Olivia rushes home to be there for her and her teenage niece. As Olivia goes to visit her best friend Melody/Melanie, she finds out Mel's brother, Cooper is now living in Cape Sanctuary. She has always had a crush on Cooper who was also her late older sister's best friend. Her mother Juliet, has her own romance blooming with a younger man, who was her late best friend's husband, Henry (and his son is best friends with Juliet's granddaughter, Caitlin). Juliet has MS and does not want to cause Henry further pain. Caitlin is trying to discover who her father is via an ancestry site. I liked the story but felt like the characters weren't that dynamic. They were like a generic bunch from a small-town romances. It is perfect for working from home background story as it is the comfort read you expect. I would definitely read more by the author.
***I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from the publisher through Edelweiss/NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.***

This is my first book by this author and I’m glad I picked up the book. The story is about a daughter who returns home when her mother has an accident and needs help recovering. While she is at home, she runs into and old crush and realizes she still has feelings for him.
I enjoyed this book and it reminded me of a Hallmark movie to an extent. It was a very nice, light read to escape in.

4.5 stars.
The Sea Glass Cottage by RaeAnne Thayne is a delightful novel of healing, new beginnings and love.
Olivia "Liv" Harper left her home town of Cape Sanctuary for college and never looked back. Now settled in Seattle, she is working long hours between her regular job and her start up media business. But when Liv hears that her slightly estranged mother Juliet has been injured in a fall, she does not hesitate to rush to her side. Will spending extra time with Juliet help mend the rift between them?
Liv is a bit annoying in the beginning as she lets her fears and shame control her. She is also in over her head at the family owned nursery but she works hard to keep the business going. She is patient with her mother who does not like to accept help from others. Liv is also troubled by her fifteen year niece Caitlin's sudden animosity towards her. But she is somewhat overwhelmed with juggling her mother's care, the family nursery and keeping up with her businesses so she does not have the energy to delve deeper into what is bothering her niece.
Juliet has been on her own ever since her beloved husband passed away years earlier. She had no choice but to dedicate long hours to saving the family business and deal with her oldest daughter Natalie's drug addiction. Unfortunately her relationship with Liv suffered and they have never quite fixed their still lingering issues. Although grateful for Liv's help, Juliet struggles with being the person on the receiving end of assistance.
Caitlin absolutely adores her grandmother but in recent months, she has actively been trying to find out more information about her father. With the help of her best friend, Jake Cragun, she has settled on a plan of action. In the course of trying to find out more details about her mom, Caitlin stumbled across distressing information that she has allowed to color her viewpoint of her aunt Liv. Seething with resentment, Caitlin shuts out everyone but Jake as she continues searching for her dad.
In between the family and personal dramas, both Liv and Juliet are surprised when the possibility of romance arises. Liv has been keeping a secret for quite some time and she uses it as an excuse to put the brakes on a budding romance with Jake's dad, Henry. Liv's childhood crush Cooper Vance has returned to town and she is a bit embarrassed when by the realization she is still attracted to him. When he expresses an interest in her, will Liv allow her fears of getting hurt prevent her from taking a chance on love?
With a serene setting and appealing characters, The Sea Glass Cottage is a captivating novel of hope and forgiveness. The characters are vibrantly developed and they grow and evolve over the course of the story. This newest release by RaeAnne Thayne is heartfelt a story with realistic issues that will resonate with readers.

Once again Raeanne Thayne has written a great story. I love the happily ever after ending and the road to get us there. I liked the strong women characters in this book. I also enjoyed the way the characters were all interconnected within the background stories. It made it a very enjoyable read to watch these characters discover their "connections" and then to end happily. As alway Ms. Thayne has written a story that was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
The story focuses on three women in a family. First, there is Olivia who has moved away from her hometown, hasn't really kept in touch, but also hasn't found happiness as she hoped. One day, she gets a call that her mom has had an accident which causes her to pack her things and head back home. Juliet is her headstrong mother who is now injured and having to lean on others. She's independent as her husband died when her girls were teenagers, and her way of coping has always been to go at it alone. Then, there is Caitlin. Caitlin was the daughter of Juliet's sister/Olivia's daughter, Natalie. Natalie died of a drug overdose when Caitlin was a baby. Olivia then took Caitlin in and raised her.
Returning home isn't a seamless process as strained relationships and unresolved emotions abound with past happenings and the ongoing dynamics of the three women. The story is narrated by these women in alternating chapters. With each chapter, you are able to see what each of these women is carrying, including secrets she is holding onto from the other two women. The story is further complicated by the men in the town as seems to happen. One of these men is Cooper Vance, the fire chief and best friend of Olivia's deceased sister. There is also Caitlin's best friend who is helping her find the truth about her birth father. And then, there's Henry, the widow of Juliet's best friend who does what he can to help Juliet out - even when she doesn't want it. Y'all, each of these women has some secrets related to these men to themselves and to each other. The plot is very much driven by these secrets, the women navigating being back together, and just figuring out all that life has put on their plate.
For me, I really dug the simple beauty of this read. The stories flowed easily, and I was quickly invested in the story of each woman - and also hoping they'd reconcile and learn to trust one another again. The drama was high in this one, but so was the love and the want to rebuild relationships. Sometimes you just want a book that makes the you feel those feels and keeps the promise of starting over at its core. This was exactly was this was, and right now, y'all, that's also just what I needed.
Another contemporary fiction set in the author's Cape Sanctuary, a town on the cliffs overlooking the ocean in Northern California and centered on 3 generations where each member is harboring a secret as well as never having recovered from traumatic happenings years earlier. Juliet is the matriarch, a woman in her 50s who has fallen off a ladder and finds herself needing to accept help. Olivia, Juliet's daughter, has made a life for herself in Seattle though she's not particularly happy and is struggling with PTSD and panic attacks after witnessing an assault. However, she takes leave from work and heads back to Cape Sanctuary to help Juliet and her niece Caitlyn in the aftermath of Juliet's accident. Caitlyn is the daughter of Juliet's older daughter, Natalie, who died of a drug overdose when Caitlyn was a baby. Caitlyn has been raised by Juliet, happily, but now at 15 wants to know who her father is, which Natalie never disclosed. Additionally, reading Olivia's and Natalie's teen diaries (found in the attic) have led to a rift with her aunty Olivia.
The journey to communication and forgiveness among the women, with touches of romance on the side, as well as answers being discovered to past mysteries of course leads to a happy ending, which is just what I needed right now. These are romantic not smutty - clean closed door -- hot kisses about the extent. I like this series set in Cape Sanctuary; however, the author really needs to edit her tendency to repeat and repeat and repeat the same emotional barriers and descriptions of her characters. By the time I read it a 3rd time that a character unable to move forward and make a decision or enter into a relationship because of X, I want to take out a red pen. By the 6th time, I either abandon the book or, mostly, skim over it.
