It sucked me in. I read the whole thing in two sittings. I love a good mentally-falling-apart and life in pieces and unreliable narrator. I didn't figure out whodunit until almost the end, so that helped my enjoyment. I would have actually liked more of a look into Megan's and Anna's psyches also; I think the book was more about the women's lives and psyches than about the whodunit part, which also explains my enjoyment. Maybe not perfectly written, but entertaining and made me think and feel nonetheless.

3.5*

The Girl On The Train is a CRAZY book! My favorite read in the month of February!! The book took me in all kinds of directions and I never knew what was coming next! I gave this book a 4.5⭐️. I do wish that I connected to the characters a bit more, but overall WOW! There are spoilers below - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

Character review:

Rachel Watson - Wow. She is kinda cray-cray (actually not kinda but really cray-cray). She is the main character and is a drunk. At the beginning of the book she forgets what happens on the day that Megan goes missing. She is trying throughout the entire book to figure out what happened. While also trying to fix some of her relationships. She has a good heart I think, but she doesn’t know what to do. She is constantly ruining her relationships, I think she just needs to take a step back and do some reflection.

Megan Hipwell - I love how she is originally prorated as this perfect human. Then we find out that she is anything but that. I do think that the way that she died was kinda weird. Like it seemed kinda out of character for her to get so mad at Tom, but idk.

Scott Hipwell - I really liked how he thought his life was perfect. Then found out later that it was kinda not. I do think that the way that he snaps was perfect. He just lost his wife and then had a lady lie to him a lot. Though, I do wish that we got a little glimpse of where he went next.

Ann Watson - This lady needs some therapy for real. She liked being a mistress? Like ma’am! I do like how in the end she comes around and helps Rachel. Even though she snaps too and kills tom even more. Like is DEAD DEAD.

Tom Watson - This dude is freaking crazy.

Plot review:

I finished this book and just had to stare at a wall for a few minutes. The plot is as twisty as it gets. I mean there is constantly something going wrong. Someone dies, a baby drowns, someone cheats, like what the freak! I did love the plot though! I read a lot of mysteries but not a ton of thrillers. At least not like this!

Overall:

This book is crazy! If you are looking for a book to make you question everything, this book is for you! Good luck!
