Cute and sweet. It reminded me of Me Before You a tad. It was an easy read that I was able to escape into, which was good for this busy season of life.

I didn’t think I was going to like this book when I started it. I mean being offered your dream job on page one while in line for a different dream experience just felt a bit much, but I actually ended up really enjoying it. I think it would’ve been much better had Ella’s job back home been a more normal job for a 24 year old. It still could’ve been an impressive job without being so fully unrealistic. And honestly half the time I could just pretend it was since it didn’t come up often at all. I liked the romance. I liked the Jamie’s family dynamics. I thought the side characters were a tad flat, but still fun.
I was so sure Jamie was going to die and also so sure he needed to die for it to be a compelling story, but I actually really loved the semi open ended ending. We don’t know how much time he has with Ella but we know they’re happy together and I love that

4.5 stars. I loved this book! Spoiler: I was 100% that Jamie would not live to see his next chapters, but I was so wrong and I’m so happy because of that. I loved the characters, the side ones were hilarious, meaningful, real, and there was never a dull moment. That goes for each one that was presented, even the other American Rhodes scholar. From their meet-cute (which she did not get a good first impression from him) to their adventures together, I was hooked and sat for their love story. This book portrayed love as it is. It’s hard, evolving, work, patience, respect, and more. The road to get there can be rocky, but it’s one worth fighting for. I am so happy I read this book before watching the movie and I 100% recommend reading it!!
