JULIA WHELON. This woman can tell a STORY. And write a story!!! It’s like if Kristin Hannah, Taylor Jenkins Reid, and Emily Henry all collaborated on a book, and then you’re almost to this book. My oh my. Rebranding myself as someone who exclusively listens to narrations by Julia (is that a thing?), she’s a national treasure.

I asked myself if this was a retelling or a university version of The Fault in Our Stars and begged myself to not anticipate the pain.
I finished the book and I have to say, no it’s not a retelling and I’m glad it’s not a sad book. It’s a hopeful book and I’m very much in need of one at the moment.
I particularly loved the poems and quotes in the beginning of each chapter. Very fast paced and I count on the Netflix adaptation not to suck.

I picked this up because I saw the announcement of the series adaptation but I can't do it anymore, I'm dnfing this at 60%.

Compared to the author's other book, 'Thank You for Listening' that I gave 4 stars, this is just disappointing. The mc is annoying and childish, the details of the premise are ridiculous and far too unrealistic for me, the side characters feel like caricatures/character tropes rather than fleshed out individuals and don't even get me started on the whole' cancer as a tool to push the romance' thing going on here. The only thing saving the book is the author's narration, Julia Whelan ALWAYS delivers on that front.
