The Unsub provides readers with a glance at what it's like to be on a team hunting down a serial killer, this book gives me a what if Criminal Minds were a book vibe. In this first instalment of a series, we follow Caitlin Hendrix (a narcotics detective) as she joins the homicide team to hunt down The Prophet (also known as, The Zodiac Killer). The Prophet has been terrorizing the East Bay area since the '90s but never was caught.

I loved the personal connection that Caitlin has to the cases, her father Mack was the lead investigator on the original case. Sadly, the killer was never caught, leading Mack to spiral and attempt suicide, the killer has been dormant for 20 years, but when a similar killer returns, the team wonder's if the prophet is back or if they have a copycat on their hands.

This book hit the ground running, your attention is captivated within the first few pages and you do not want to put it down. The level of detail and realism put into this book is amazing! So much detail, I will admit, the murders are very graphic and gory - so this book may not be for everyone. The imagery is very intense and as a reader you want the killer to be brought to justice.

The book ends on a cliffhanger, and you want to immediately pick up the next one to find out what happens with Caitlin.
