I read this book in a single day, which is something I haven’t done in a long time. It was feel-good and fluffy, but it also touched on some difficult themes. And the inclusivity. Wow. Sometimes it feels like writers sit down with their bingo cards of diversity and try to mark off every category even if it doesn’t make sense, but this book did not feel like that at all. All the representation felt natural, like the beautiful diversity of the real world. The description of an individual with autism-spectrum disorder navigating new places, new types of relationships, and new situations with the help of friends was particularly just so stinking good. And all the geek culture! Gah. Love it. I don’t usually dig YA, but this was a wonderfully surprising exception.
