Go, dog. Go! (board book)
The dogs are all going somewhere, and they take a variety of modes of transportation to get there. After stopping at a red light, the dogs continue on to their fun and final destination.

I like the simplicity of this book in that there are no more than 10 words on a page. I do not like the images, however. Compared to the original picture book, they are much too small and detailed for a small board book. The same images are used, but out of context from the original (which I don’t like) because the text is shortened to fit this book.

Go, dog. Go! (picture book)
The first half of the book introduces the reader to different sizes, numbers, and colors of dogs, using contrasting information on the adjacent page. The second half of the book is when the dogs are all going somewhere very fast, and they finally reach their fun and final destination.

This book is much more detailed than the board book version. The whole first half of the book is not included in the board book, but I really enjoy this part. Counting and comparing/contrasting is incredibly important for children to learn, and this is a very good way to do so. There are a lot more words on a page, but the story rhymes a lot better, the images seem of an appropriate size, and it doesn’t feel like pieces are missing from the story.

Probably as exciting as books go for those beginning to read. I really liked that it was a longer book though, and we spent quite some time reading it.

What a terrible book! There is NO PLOT. And I don't mean that there's a very simple plot, as would suit a children's book, but there is ABSOLUTELY NO PLOT! There are no characters. There is no story. It's just a collection of ugly 1960s cartoons about dogs, with accompanying sentences. And the worst part is that my little brother loves it and makes me read it to him all the time. WHY?!?!?!?! I wouldn't at all mind if he wanted me to read something like [b:Oh, the Places You'll Go!|191139|Oh, the Places You'll Go!|Dr. Seuss|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1172556196s/191139.jpg|2125304] or [b:Where the Wild Things Are|19543|Where the Wild Things Are|Maurice Sendak|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1167257946s/19543.jpg|3020535]. But no, it's this. This is one children's book that should never have been published.

Another title not to be read on my electronic resource--it skewed all the pictures. Either way, this is a good read to discuss colors and prepositions and lots of other fun things. I'd definitely recommend it and I can see why it's been popular for so long.

For: fans of dogs; readers wanting to hear a book or readers wanting to learn how to read by themselves.

Possible red flags: rudeness; dogs in perilous situations.

This book is doomed to gather dust on the top shelf.
