The Clique is an interesting read. I was intrigued by the secret society and the mysteries behind the deaths. I was suspicious of everyone but never really figured out the connections correctly to determine who was actually behind everything. It is a fast read - I read it in a day. It kept my attention and kept me guessing, which are important to me when reading a thriller.

The Clique by Rhiannon Barnsley is taut and suspenseful in all the right places, as a psychological thriller ought to be. Twists keep coming until the fantastic ending. Reading was quick and the combination of brisk and slow paces reeled me in and kept me in a pleasantly high-alert state.
Fed up with workplace stress and pressures, Sara jumps off her law office building. Her friend and co-worker Cass discovers the existence of a secret female society nearly impossible to join. Combined with the toxic work environment, she begins to make sense of her friend's death. She's worked to the bone herself, her boss is insufferable and time isn't her own. All for prestige, power and money. The Inside is intriguing and elite. But who can be trusted?
The corporate office setting along with its angst, politics, insincerity, unwritten rules and misogyny is written so realistically it took me back to a workplace I left for those reasons. The plot is fascinating with characters I enjoyed hating. A few details are implausible but not enough to adversely impact my reading experience. Simply put, I really liked The Clique and hope the author writes more in this genre.
My sincere thank you to HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this engrossing novel.

Quite a fast paced read, I’m a sucker for a corporate London novel. Some elements were slightly predictable but that didn’t take away from the enjoyment of it. Some characters were slightly two-dimensional too, but on the whole a great book to get me out of a rut.

Arc Review
Publishing Date- 8/1/2024
My Rating- 2.85 Stars.
Is the author an attorney? Because she nailed the drama and the misogyny running rampant in a law firm setting.
What To Expect/Context Warnings-
⚖️Unhinged Ladies Behaving Badly
⚖️Secret Society
⚖️Talks Of Suicide
⚖️Drugs
⚖️Unwanted Sexual Advances
My Thoughts-
This was an interesting read. The premise captured my attention but the execution lacked. The pacing did fall flat for me, it’s a slow burn book. But once the things started to pick up and more secrets unfolded it was a quick finish. I nailed who the killer was about 70 % in. The ending was very underwhelming lol. I think I went into this book with my hopes too high.

I DNF'd this book at 21%. I was so looking forward to a book about a female led secret society. Somewhere that uplifted women who worked in traditionally male dominated fields, maybe that comes later. I struggled to make it through ten chapters of the main character dealing with misogyny and sexism in the workplace (a workplace that didn't give two hoots about a high level colleague 'falling' out of a window btw). There were a lot of chapters just describing her long work day, my interest was just utterly lost. The main character was so mild that I would have liked being able to see her in action as a lawyer, as a contrast. Instead her character description was more about her expensive garments.
Not for me, I feel this book would put me into a reading slump. So I'm saying goodbye to it
