The story and the characters are both great and thoroughly enjoyable, but in nearly every chapter there is at least one typo, or the names of characters or things mixed up which is frustrating and gives the feeling that the book was written in a rushed manner.

Wow, I’m blown away by the second installment in the Mistborn series. I truly see why everyone raves about it. Everything I loved about book one (the unique magic system, the compelling cast of supporting characters, the twists and turns…) was just amplified in Well of Ascension.
I love that these books feel like no other fantasy I’ve ever read - Brandon Sanderson masterfully crafts complex storylines that are equally adept at the diplomacy and politics as they are in battle scenes (the latter of which is written so beautifully and vividly it feels like you’re there watching).
I love that we get so much more depth from all the characters who made up part of Kelsier’s original crew. The return of folks like
Sazed, Breeze, Spook, Clubs, and Ham, with the addition of new people like Tindywyl
really up the ante for added depth and intrigue.
While the beginning of this book is a bit slow (especially compared to the rapid pace of the first book), it really picks up in the latter half and I was on the edge of my seat for the last 100 pages to see what would happen next.
Sanderson’s writing continues to be vivid and compelling and I truly never know what twist is coming up. I like to try to predict what will happen and who will live or who will die, and each time I couldn’t be more wrong! I can’t wait to read the next book.

Some things happen too suddenly and we barely see how characters process it. We just move on to the next thing. I think, for how much other things are repeated or overexplained... it doesn't make much sense. There are quite some pacing issues.
But what bothers me the most is how few female characters there are and how all have been raped or it has been at least attempted at some point. Even when it brings NOTHING to the plot or the world. We can understand how disgusting Straff is without hearing every time we have his perspective how disgusted he is with women's bodies when they are over 20 sth. And how hot he finds GIRLS(=CHILDREN). Really unnecessary, really.

While still a 4 star read, this wasn't as good as the first in the series, and it felt a little slow at times.  That being said, the payoff was worth the investment. The world of Scadrial expands much more outside Luthadel this book, with the introduction of other denizens that were unexpected, weird, and added to the other-worldly feel of the setting.

CON:  Not a major plot point of the book, but there is a romantic relationship between an 18 year old and 40 year old man, which just gives me the ick.

Nice read, a fun fantasy novel. I was going to give a slightly lower rating, as the story was slow in places, and some of the characters were annoying or typical or had annoying aspects, but there were some nice twists at the end that you felt coming but just could not see the shape of except in hindsight. That was very well done, and the world building was also improved from the last book; the world feels less (but still a bit) like its just the main city and a surrounding wasteland that could contain anything.
RIP main characters getting no-divorce-possible forever-married

I am unsure if I have ever experienced a book like this one, where with every new chapter a new information is dropped that almost always completely twists one of the many exciting narratives. From the first page on, I was surprised and as it kept going I could not fathom all the plottwists coming. And none of them seemed over the top nor misplaced, as the world, its history and its characters, whom I am attached to deeply now, are so well construed that it read so fluently.
Not to mention, the amazing and captivating writing style!
Due to the ending, I am both extremely curious and mortified to find out what is waiting in Book Three.
