Wow. Just WOW! Dracula is a brilliant classic that lives up to its reputation and notoriety. The story is told through letters and diaries, which makes it feel personal and real. It’s a creative format that adds to the suspense.

The characters are strong and memorable—especially Mina (and the Count, of course). Each one plays an important role and adds depth to the story.

This book helped shape modern horror and it’s easy to see why. It’s eerie, engaging and still exciting to read today. I could not put it down!

reading this was kind of funnier than I expected for some reason, especially Van Helsing. I know he was being so serious but he made me laugh a few times thats my bad. the book overall was good though and I'm surprised at the ending! I thought Mina might actually die, but I'm glad she lived. I'm very charmed with the writing style though it was a bit slow at times and some parts confused me.

unfortunetly.... i could not get myself into this one. my first real try for a classic book since... idk, college or high school, and alas. i barely broke a dent in it. i think the problem was 1. i was bored. 2. the language was a little hard to keep me engaged (always my main problem, with classics) and 3. i kind of know the story, and i'd rather read a retelling that's more interesting to me/focused more in ways i care about (ie: the sapphic lucy westenra one i just bought!).

maaaaybe one day i'll give it another go, but i don't have high hopes.

If anyone needs an example of a male author who has written men simping over women, this is it.
Lots of men holding hands, men promising to die for women that they have known 24 hours and men thinking that women having a ‘male brain’ is a compliment.
This book is of course not written for a 21st century audience but I just wanted Bram to pick a side! Religion or science? Psychology or pseudoscience? Feminism or misogyny? Brought up lots of interesting topics and it was fun to note elements included in this book that were contextual to the time it was written, I loved the explanatory notes! Also, some amazing lines followed by some very repetitive ones.
This is the first book that I really don’t know how to rate so I’m just going to leave it with no stars, I’m glad I read it even if it did take me a while!
