"My dear ... we cannot control when the right person comes into our life - or how. But we should certainly seize the chance for happiness when they do."
Y'ALL. Colonel Edward Halstead - THE MAN THAT YOU ARE.
I loved this story so much! Edward is described as a large man who has a commanding presence, but really he is just a soft man looking out for those that he cares for. He is misunderstood due to a stain on his past, and the way that that is resolved had me tearing up. I seriously adore his character and how strong and soft he is.
Felicity is incredible as well - she's a spinster at 33 years old and can see her only goal in life as making sure that Daphne, her niece, is married off and then she will retire to the seaside. She is a selfless, strong woman and I love that she doesn't falter.
The romance between Edward and Felicity was lovely - they both have their own convictions and stand by them, but they find a way to see things from the other's perspective and it really meshes in such a lovely way between the two of them. They are both older, Felicity at 33 and Edward at 38, but their love is something to behold. They are both a stronghold for the other and a place of rest. I mean read the quote below and you'll see another reason why I teared up.
"All the troubles of the world will be there when you wake tomorrow. Perhaps you will confide a few more in me, that I might help you carry them."

ARC Review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to the author @authorsallybritton for the #gifted e-book.
Sally Britton delivers a heartfelt and thoroughly entertaining start to the Bachelors of Blackstone series with A Bachelor’s Lessons in Love. In this charming Regency romance, readers are treated to a classic tale of reluctant guardianship, determined independence, and a slow-burning love story wrapped in witty banter, emotional depth, and satisfying character growth.
Edward, a brooding and reluctant guardian, finds his world upended when he’s tasked with overseeing a young woman and her spirited and sharp-tongued Aunt Felicity—a spinster with no desire to be anyone’s responsibility. What follows is a delightful rivals-to-more dynamic as the two clash, challenge, and ultimately change one another in all the best ways. Their slow-burn attraction is beautifully paced, making every glance and shared moment resonate with meaning.
Britton skillfully weaves themes of grief, redemption, and found family throughout the story, creating emotional stakes that feel genuine and relatable. Felicity’s compassion and Edward’s gradual journey toward healing are especially touching. This is a clean romance, with kisses only, but the emotional and romantic tension is plenty satisfying.
Set during a vibrant London season, A Bachelor’s Lessons in Love offers just the right blend of heart, humor, and historical charm. Fans of Regency romance will find themselves enchanted by this tale of second chances and unexpected love. A wonderful and promising first entry in the Bachelors of Blackstone series!

I really enjoyed this book!! I adored the characters, the plot, and the fact that the conflict wasn't too drawn out. When I say it's a slow burn ,you have to believe me. They don't even kiss until the book is about 80% of the way over - but I enjoyed every minute of this romance.

Before I begin, I would like to thank Sally Britton for allowing me to read a copy of her upcoming book, A Bachelor’s Lessons in Love, which is the first book of the multi-author Bachelors of Blackstone’s series and will be available on Amazon on April 30th, 2025.
Former military officer Edward Halstead never thought his life as a reclusive bachelor would be disrupted by becoming the guardian of a young woman. When his army friend passes away, the late soldier’s daughter, Daphne Price, and her protective aunt, Felicity Price, are sent to his home to his care. Felicity has spent her life looking out for and raising her niece and she’s not going to stop until she knows that Daphne is taken care of and her happiness is secured. She can’t afford assuming that the quiet bachelor knows how to prepare her niece for the season especially if Felicity doesn’t want Daphne to become a spinster like her. Felicity and Edward’s views on how to prepare and raise Daphne clash constantly, and when his past is gossiped about by other members of society and the attraction between the aunt and soldier grows, they have to decide if this temporary partnership is one for convenience or could lead to long-term happiness.
I loved this book. You have Felicity, a strong, determined, protective, kind, and beautiful woman that is devoted to making sure her niece has a wonderful life. You have Edward Halstead, a reserved, tall, considerate, genuine, and handsome man that is unsure how to properly care for his friend’s daughter or how to re-enter Society for the girl. The interactions between Halstead and Felicity were thoughtful, charged, protective, and sweet. Daphne is a lovely young woman, and I liked how the author showed different parenting/protective styles throughout the book. The main characters’ pasts were written with vulnerability and compassion, and I wanted to give both of them a hug. Blackstone sounds like a hoot, and I cheered for people that shipped them as the story progressed. Overall, if you like complex characters, wonderful found family dynamics, humor, and sweet aunt x guardian partnership of convenience romance with low amounts of spice, then I would highly recommend this book.
