Lily Gold doesn’t miss!!! A strong, smart, caring FMC who is realistic in her level of self awareness and a cast of MMC who are less stereotypical than some of Gold’s others. A full plot and good character motivations, just a treat from start to finish.

The female narrator wasn't bad but she was absolutely wrong for a 20 something British women. She sounded way older and far too posh.

I really did enjoy reading this book it was so fun and was a great book to start my summer of reading. I loved it simply because it was just easy, nothing complex just a fun read that I loved and couldn’t stop reading.

While yes I did love it I can’t help but become a little irritated by Briar. At the start I really liked her, she was strong, independent and just a great mc. For some reason she then became a weird lil diva but the type of diva that a 6 year old is who runs around in a poofy dress and orders people around with a lil wand. (I am not talking about her diva persona with the media, but her being a diva with the boys.) Her “diva” ways just became absurdly cringy, because it was meant to be flirty but just came out as a petulant six year old who’s voice was droning in my ear. An example is her insults to the boys- flirty insults- but insults that was just CRINGE like Matt has this nightmare and he wakes up apologising and Briar is like you dipshit don’t apologise. Idk why it just made me giggle when in intense moments or sexual moments and she’s here calling them dipshits. Idk just was silly to me.

This book also could have been better without the whole criminal minds episode following the plot. YOU CANT SHOW ME INSTENSE SEX SCENES INSTENSE SEX SCENES WHERE SHE CALLING THEM ALL DIPSHITS AND THEN BAMN WE IN THE POV OF A MAN WHO IS ACTIVELY MAKING BOMBS AND SA IDEAS STRAIGHT AFTER THIS.
It gave me such whiplash when they are having intense sex or whatever and then BAMN MURDER that was just silly to me. I think because we have this stalker plot is made this book feel like two seperate novels entirely. This then made their romance even more unrealistic to me, we have such tense scenes and events where I’m even scared for her, but then she’s banging the men she has no chemistry with. It’s just an odd plot to follow such instense sex scenes.

My main issue with Polly romance in books is how unrealistic it happens. Once we are in the relationship fine beautiful, but these characters had absolutely no chemistry with eachother what so ever like there was no flirting or sexual tension so when she had sex with Glen and Kenta I actually had to take a minute to even remember their names because hardly any scenes of them appeared. The sex literally came out of nowhere and felt underwhelming because of the lack of sexual tension before. Again at the start I was FOAMING AT THE MOUTH for this foresome, then the stalker got more involved and thus more focus was put on the stalker and little to non on the romance to the point where I forgot the boys names.

If more tension and more yearning was in the book and it wasn’t CRAZY rushed I’d be eating this up. But unfortunately it just felt really messy and unrealistic at this point. I mean no mention of any foursome of anything was mentioned before, Briar even multiple times mentioned how she didn’t like sex before them and never really saw the point or enjoyment of it. So when she wanted sex with Glen and he LITERALLY SAID

“If you’re that desperate lass I’m sure Kenta would happily take care of you”

AND THATS ALL THATS SAÏD ABOUT IT
It just doesn’t make sense to me how a women who acitively dislikes sex doesn’t even question doesn’t even has a single moment of “oh I’ve never done this before but I’d love to try.” It’s just stupid and unrealistic to me.  To be honest I don’t think I would have thought much of this at all if there was SEXUAL TENSION BETWEEN THEM ALL BEFORE THIS. BUT THERE WAS LITERALLY NO CHEMISTRY BETWEEN BRIAR AND THE BOYS AT ALL.

I know it seems like I hated this book, but I did genuinely enjoy it I didn’t take it too seriously and overall had a fun time reading it.
