My first Christopher Moore book.
As soon as I finished reading it, I ran to the bookstore to pick up more of Moore's titles. He has a gift for turning cliches on their head.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and am familiar with many of the haunts Moore describes in his book, making trips to the City even more entertaining. I will never look at the Marina Safeway the same way again. I particularly liked the inclusion of the Emperor of San Francisco -- a nice nod to City history, while maintaining the fantasy and tone of the book.
I consider this to be one of Moore's best books: lighthearted humour, but not at all mindless.

I liked this book, but I didn't enjoy it as much as Moore's other books. I think it was the "I hate being alone, I have to have a man" female protagonist; I just couldn't buy into some of Jody's inner thoughts and feelings. I loved the recurring San Francisco characters - Rivera, The Emperor, Bummer, and Lazarus - and I definitely laughed, but I am looking forward to taking a break from this trilogy before coming back to it.
It was funny, and I really liked the character Jody.
Another fun book from Christopher Moore! His sense of dark humor is always enjoyable, and Bloodsucking Fiends is no exception! I’m looking forward to continuing on through the series!
Moore's books are always fun to read, 5 mins into reading you are already hooked and don't want to put it down. The fact that it takes place in San Francisco makes it more fun, I especially love the street name references.

A young woman named Jody wakes up after an attack, and it doesn't take her too long to figure out she's been turned into a vampire. As she settles into her new life, she realizes she's in danger from the vampire who turned her, and from the police who think she's behind a series of murders. Her boyfriend/minion Tommy gathers an attack force of night clerks from the local safeway to keep the city safe from the demon. Hilarity ensues. Not as mind-bendingly-bizarre as Fluke or even Sequined Love Nun, which made it a slightly quicker read, as long as you're not squeamish. (And if you are, why are you reading about vampires?)

Bloodsucking Fiends is a dark comedy about a vampire named Jody and her boyfriend Tommy. This was the first book I've read by Christopher Moore. I found his humor to be witty and absurd, similar to Tom Robbins. My favorite character was the Emperor - his dialogue was hilarious and dry as a bone. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
This is such a wonderful book for a book group. I can't wait to hear what others have to say about this. We are all supposed to bring a picture of ourselves in some special or favorite outfit.
I don't know what inspired Beckerman to write these spare comments about her life and her clothes, but it really was inspiration. She says so much with a small drawing and a paragraph or two.
