This short novella was good even though it doesn’t match the mastery of her later novels and shows some of her juvenila ways in it.
I absolutely hated Lady Susan and so much wanted for Fredrica to get away from her mother.
The adaptation of it highlighted the comedic nature of this novel that might be lost on some without careful reading.
It’s not an amazing story but it is a fun and funny one!

J'ai toujours eu du mal a rentrer dans les classiques mais celui ci m'a happée tout de suite et a réussi a me garder diverti presque tout le long du livre. C'est également mon premier Jane Austen et je peux garantir que ce ne sera pas mon dernier.
ce petit livre m’a surpris par sa différence avec les romans plus connus de Jane Austen. le style épistolaire donne une fraîcheur particulière au récit, permettant de plonger directement dans les pensées et les intrigues des personnages à travers leurs lettres. l'intrigue reste fidèle à la tradition austenienne avec ses histoires de mariage (on aime les dramas ici), mais ici, le ton est plus acéré, presque mordant. Lady Susan elle-même est un personnage fascinant : une coquette sournoise, manipulatrice, jouant un double jeu avec une aisance déconcertante. j’ai aimé suivre les subtilités de ses machinations et les dramas familiaux qui en découlent, tout cela avec une ironie sous-jacente typique d’Austen. cette immersion dans les petites guerres de salon et les complots domestiques m’a offert une perspective plus cynique et délicieusement piquante sur les thèmes récurrents de l'auteur. un vrai plaisir de voir Austen s’amuser avec une héroïne aussi peu conventionnelle.

I liked the fact that Lady Susan was an epistolary novel, it set a satisfying pace and made it easy to get through the book, which i finished quite quickly. I thought it was an original way of presenting it and it feels refreshing to see some change from the traditional narrative structure most authors opt for !
This was the first book I read of Jane Austen and so far I think they might just not be for me ! which is fine. I don't hate the book but I fail to see any actual interest in reading it beyond mild curiosity and I didn't particularly enjoy her writing style. I might just not be witty enough ;)

The character of Lady Susan was an absolute bad bitch icon. Very reminiscent of the Crawford's. I don't think it is what was intended, but I love all of Austen's "badly behaved,' female characters.
