I adore this author her writing makes me smile every time, so much humor and feel good reading. While also including themes true to life and handled in such a realistic way, with all the insecurities and relationship struggles.
Fred the dog is a stand out character from start to finish, his expressions and intelligence in his adorable ways. His full of mischief and has a love of oreos, he was just so sweet and loved how he brought them together. It was so much fun!
Nina and Alex have incredible chemistry, plenty of banter and i just really enjoyed their developing relationship. The majority of the book they spend as friends, attracted to each other but neither certain how the other feels. She thought he was too young for her and he is used to woman falling over him, he just didn't realize her insecurites.
They both made a lot of presumptions about each other from the start and it does take a while for them to see things from another view.
I adored the side cast especially Christy and Max who were so entertaining, gave the mcs a nudge in the right direction and were just amazing characters.
Christys book writing sounds incredible and Max makes a lot of progress, his very self aware and i appreciated that so much. All of the characters are flawed and imperfect with their own quirks, which really brought them all to life even those that appear for only a few scenes. Such as Guy or Jessica.
I enjoyed so many moments in this book from the film nights, oreos, the getting each other out of bad dades, Fred jumping through windows and the incredibra.
Theres a lot to enjoy and i sped through this book, perfect for a comfort read! With a sweet happy ending for everyone

I could not put this book down! I loved everything about it. Fred is obviously Ninas' guardian angle and makes sure he does everything he can to bring Alex into her life.
It is a fun, laugh out loud, light read with a few heart warming moments. It is one of my favourite books by Jennifer Crusie!! I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick yet enjoyable read that will make you smile and feel good!

Ack, I usually don't leave reviews on books, but I had to clarify for friends -- the rating is based purely on my (subjective) enjoyment, ymmv. This was a lot of fun and I really liked Nina and Alex both separately and together, but I'll admit that I won't be rushing to re-read, since a lot of my delight was with the novelty.

Really enjoyed the humor in this book, as well as the main character's ability to "train" her dog. Lovely romance, short and sweet book.

It's definitely easy to tell that this is early Crusie. It's got all the elements of her later stuff, but less of the plotting and pacing that she needs. Still, if you like the formula, it's a fun little read.

I mistakenly picked up this book as part of a reading challenge and didn't realize until halfway through that I was supposed to be reading [b:Anyone but You|44528370|Anyone but You|Chelsea M. Cameron|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1552984423l/44528370._SY75_.jpg|68472719]. This was a quick, fun read!

Sweet, short and satisfying. The usual Jen Crusie tropes apply. Dog, harassed heroine and banter. Lots of banter. There are also a ton of side characters who are quirky caricatures, but all of them are still adorable.
While I was all set to reduce stars for characters Misunderstanding each other, the circumstances of the plot had this one making sense and being a plot point resolved not by clearing things up but with the characters realizing WHY they could not confide in each other. So props for deconstructing one of the most annoying romance tropes there is.
