honestly grabbed this book because of the adorable bassett on the cover. I was not expecting a hot romance. The story was real good. A lesson on letting go of your insecurities and ego. To allow yourself to love and be loved unconditionally. First was Fred, the bassett who was at the shelter. Old, stinky and morose looking. She took him in anyway and found he was perfect. Then she meets her neighbor because of dear Fred. Oh how sizzling. Just be ready though, this was a bit x rated.

Good, almost mindless reading. Strong female lead - "girl power" lessons. I did get annoyed by the back and forth - sort of 7th grade romance. It's realistic, but annoying.

It was a quick, easy, cute read that required absolutely no thought. That's exactly what I wanted out of this book.

EDIT: Bumped up to 3 stars because this had a great workshop scene. The characters' comments about the Jane Errs book were pretty insightful, and they had good pointers for someone looking to write a collection of anecdotal essays.
Previous review:
2.5 stars, in that this wasn't terrible, and it was more than just okay. It was not too generic, was certainly amusing at parts, and had steamy scenes. But it was ultimately unfulfilling. Maybe it was the length of the book. I liked that it was a quick read (2-3 hours) but it was too short to be able to flesh the characters (flat!) or any subplots (none!) out. Maybe I just haven't dipped in the romance genre in a while.

Adorable! I read this years ago (definitely pre-GR) and enjoyed the re-read. Great characters, sweet humor, and Fred, the fabulous doggo!
