Pushing Daisies but Jewitches. 🪄
So the great! The book was well written and Az was cute. Really enjoyed the inclusion of a MMC with anxiety. I also really liked that both MCs were bi/pan but unfortunately that was so underutilized in the plot.
Spoiler: it would’ve made more sense for a threesome with Lex in the beginning. Everything was set up! There was attraction between all three of them and then it just….didnt happen. Lex was so underutilized it was frustrating. He picked up on the connection between Az and Vickie and then disappeared after adding some extra conflict.
The villain was also severely underdeveloped. The villain were told was a bad guy but we saw just one interaction in the beginning and the rest of the book we just hear from Az he doesn’t like this person and they’re definitely evil.
The book was cheesy but sometimes it got a little too much. So many Swiftie mentions. I think it had cute moments and it’s a good debut, I’d be excited to read more about Lex. 😈
Thank you to Netgalley and Atria Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Thank you #AtriaBooks for the ARC for Hopelessly Teavoted by Audrey Goldberg Ruoff. Cute concept. I don’t think I’ve read many books like this in a while! The writers style reminded me of Sarah Addison Allen and her style of story telling (which is a compliment).
I really enjoyed the beginning chapters and the end chapters. The middle of the books felt a bit wordy and heavy. I think the interior struggles and internal dialogue of the two main characters at times made for the wordiness (just my opinion, of course).
I loved the corny witch jokes and Swiftie details. The supporting characters were dynamic and I loved reading about each of them.
Quite an enjoyable, interesting read. Great debut!

An entertaining premise and a horny book, though some of the story fell flat. I liked Az and the FMC but felt the pining and back and forth in the first part dragged on a bit and lost my interest. Loved Az’s parents, and probably would have liked his sister more if her character was more developed. It felt like the house had a more defined personality than many side characters. The mystery with the mega church honestly felt like a chapter was missing—somehow all the action had begun but I was confused as to when it had started. The magic was fun, the tea shop was fun, and the spice—slow burn—was fun.

Thank you to Atria Books for providing me with a gifted ebook copy of Hopelessly Teavoted through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Hopelessly Teavoted definitely makes for a cute, Fall or spooky season read. It's a fun paranormal romance, with a lot of pining and some spicy moments between Azrael and Vickie. I enjoyed the family dynamics, with Vickie's strained relationship with her parents, but finding chosen family with Azrael, his sister, and their parents. Azrael's parents bring a fun Gomez and Morticia Addams feel to the book, and I loved the antagonistic sibling relationship between Azrael and his sister, Priscilla.

There is definitely a lot happening in the story, but I felt like some of the pining between Azrael and Vickie became too repetitive and took away from other moments that could have brought more depth to the mystery of the souls being stolen. I felt like there were too many things that had been added to the story, and that it would have benefited from editing some of those things out and polishing it up just a bit. And I would liked to have seen more of a focus around the tea shop.
If you're looking for a cozy, witchy romance to add to your Fall or spooky season TBR, Hopelessly Teavoted would make a great addition.

This book really just wasn't for me. The synopsis sounded amazing and I was really excited to read it but unfortunately I just didn't enjoy it.
Vicki and Azrael are next door neighbors who have been in love with each other for as long as the both remember but neither of them ever told the other one. The prolouge takes place as they are both leaving for college and then the next chapter jumps to 8 years later when they are both back in their home town after the death of Az's parents from COVID. (which made no sense that in a world of magic 2 seemingly pretty powerful witches died from COVID of all things)
Then we find out that Vicki and Azrael had actually gotten together during college but it's extremely vague about if it was a one night stand type of situation or if maybe there was some kind of long distance thing going on before he came to visit her, but it made the relationship feel like immediately after a 3rd act breakup scene when both characters are miserable without each other but also afraid to be hurt again. Except it goes on forever. 70% into the book these two were still pining after each other and half of their internal monolog was that they should tell the other one how they feel. But do they? Of course not. It was all just extremely repetitive and boring after about 20%.
Then you add in the mystery which felt thrown together and made very little sense, side characters that almost all felt flat, and the author throwing in multiple political statements that added nothing to the plot, there really just wasn't anything about this book that was enjoyable to me.
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I think this DRC was sent to me because one of the comp titles is "The Very Secret Society for Irregular Witches", which I loved; however, the only similarities between the two are that they feature witch characters in a romance. For me, the constant pining between the main characters became too much like a miscommunication trope (which I can't stand) and made it difficult to connect to Az and Vicky.
Hopelessly Teavoted is for readers looking for a second-chance romance featuring a spooky/magical setting, on-page spice, and pining for days!
Thank you to Atria books and Edelweiss for providing a DRC for review!

This was a fun, silly, spicy read! I liked all the main characters (which is rare for me)! Each characters was diverse enough, while still having an amazing emphasis on healthy relationships. I’m here for all of it !
Hopefully we get a sequel for the sister (please!!)

I enjoyed this book very much. It had everything I like to read in this book. I loved the character's backstories and how the character's romance developed in spicy scenes. It had me wanting more with each page. It also has tough subjects in it, which gives a more in-depth character perspective. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family!

This one was rough. I felt like I was reading this forever. It was really slow to start and at times there were some confusing bits. There was way too much pinning. To the point where I didn’t really care about the characters even getting together. So much back and forth I got whiplash. The plot of the book felt super rushed at the end and just put off to the side for most of the book to focus on you guessed it more pinning. 🫠 I wish the author had focused less on pinning and more on the two solving the mystery together. Also, what happened with Prissy and Evelyn? This was provided to me by the publisher through NetGalley as an eArc so hopefully there is some editing to bump up the plot over pinning before it is published.
