I went into this with very low expectations because I was sooo disappointed by the recent Fairyloot sequels (Foxglove, Lightbringer, Cage of Dreams) but this was fun!

It was very different from the first book with a different setting and a lot of new characters, so it feels a bit disjointed but at the heart of it we still have Alessa and Dante and they are my sweethearts 🫢🏻

There's kinda OW drama (but also not??) and either way, you know I HATE that shit ughhh 😐

The pacing was really good at first but towards the end it draggged and that's probably when it went down from 4 stars to 3 for me!

I think if I read these back to back I would've liked it more because with the long wait I honestly just forgot loads of the characters lol

Also: authors should start being brave enough to kill characters again!!

This Cursed Light didn't pull any punches. It hit me right in the chest, and won't let me go for a while. Alessa and Dante are both such incredible characters, and I wish I could read their story for the first time again.

This book deals with so many themes that resonated with me. Belonging, community, finding yourself outside of who you've been told to be, courage, and so much more. Family really is who you choose it to be, and the chosen family in this book is even stronger than in book one.

I don't know if I can fully express how much this duology means to me. The romance is wonderful, the characters speak to me, the story is compelling, and I loved reading every second of these two books.

If you haven't read This Vicious Grace, you still have time to get on it before This Cursed Light comes out, and you won't regret it. 5 stars.

Thank you to Wednesday Books and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. All thoughts are my one.
